Eldoraigne from Centurion near Pretoria have decided to drop down to the Blue Bulls Region Macro Schools B-section for the Beeld this year. With Centurion High also in the B-section and Affies no longer part of the Beeld, the Blue Bulls A-section is looking very small. Chances are the Eldoraigne move will encourage the remaining A-section Marco schools to press ahead with the formation of a proper Noordvaal premier league. Where this will leave the Beeldtrofee with its rich tradition, remains to be determined.

Garsfontein will take on South African school rugby powerhouses Paarl Boys High and Paarl Gymnasium as well as Nelspruit, the Beeldtrofee champions 2014 in the space of just over a week during April 2015. Add Outeniqua somewhere in the middle and that’s four seriously tough matches in just eight days. Once all the Easter holiday fixtures have been finalised, this assignment, given it’s time frame will in all likelihood be right up there at the top of the list of most difficult of all for 2015. …
Interesting news coming out of the Noordvaal is that the Beeldtrofee Macro School regions of the Golden Lions, Leopards and Valke have combined forces to form new A and B division leagues to kick off in 2015.…
The Leopards have been very competitive at under-19 level over the years and its no longer that big a surprise when they beat one of the big unions during the junior Currie Cup, simply because they have good coaching, good facilities and they attract many talented players their way. Jan-Hendrik Hattingh (history teacher) and Jaco Koch (gym manager/biokineticist) will take charge of the Witbulle backs and forwards respectively. Koch’s promotion means a new conditioning coach Janus Kruger (previously Boishaai) also comes into the mix.…

Affies’ return to and limited participation in the Beeldtrofee Macro schools competition did not last long. It was just a half a season long return in fact for the school that holds the record number of wins in the tournaments long and illustrious history.…
When it was brought to my attention, this one sort of reminded me of the late Gerbrand Grobler who in the latter part of his sports career would charge into the crease to deliver a ball for the Northern Transvaal cricket team during the summer months and then cross the Jukskei and turn out at fullback for the Transvaal rugby team during winter.…

News circulating in the Noordvaal region is that plans are underway to establish a new inter-schools format for the macro schools of the region. Currently an organising committee of sorts is busy working behind the scenes and are at the formulating stage. They will be inviting schools early in the third term for a proposal on this idea. …
