One week ahead of their Wildeklawer debut on the same ground, Menlopark will travel to Kimberley to face a very competitive Diamantveld team, who’s two best results so far this season have been the much talked about come from behind 34-all draw against Grey College followed by a 12-22 defeat to a very strong Boishaai in Stellenbosch.
Menlopark’s very tough fixture list that included 5 games in 9 days during the Easter holidays was mentioned here: http://blog.schoolboyrugby.co.za/?p=9582 and seems to really be taking its toll as they find themselves without 9 first choice players who are nursing niggles and hoping to be fully fit again for Wildeklawer.
The injuries are likely to have an even bigger impact on the Menlopark 2nd XV who have been lined up to meet the Upington 1st XV in the curtain-raiser. Upington containing SA Schools flank Cobus Wiese is no slouch this year either.
