In any conversation around the surprise package—or most underrated player—of the 2026 season, the name Yanos Molnar belongs right at the top. The Stellenberg talisman continues to deliver performances rich in intent and example, leading from the front with a consistency that has become impossible to ignore in this Cinderella story season for the Cape Town Northern Suburbs Co-ed.
With youth week trials looming in May, his fate at representative level remains uncertain. But selection or not, Molnar has already stamped himself as one of the players of the season.
Monday’s ABSA Wildeklawer fixture adds an intriguing layer to his story. Stellenberg take on Diamantveld in what doubles as a unique family occasion. The Kimberley side are coached by Yanos’ cousin, Vlos Molnar, who has steadily built his reputation since departing his alma mater, Boland Landbou.
Adding further intrigue, Vlos’ brother Andras—architect of arguably the most effective defensive system in schoolboy rugby this season with the “Jade Brigade”—is expected on the sidelines in Kimberley.
Stellenberg versus Diamantveld, then, is more than just another fixture on the schedule—it is a Molnar family reunion played out on one of schoolboy rugby’s biggest stages.
