Graeme Rugby Day on Thursday 21 March is the next significant event on the Eastern Cape school rugby calendar. It is an opportunity to watch all the top contenders in the province playing at one venue, namely Graeme College in Grahamstown.

Paarl Boys High overcame a determined San Isidro from Argentina 38-20 after leading 24-6 at the break. The match played in 37 degree heat was Boishaai’s first for 2013. Judging by the result and the calibre of the opposition who’s reputation had been enhanced by good showings against Drostdy and Paul Roos, Boishaai has all rights to feels happy about this positive start to the season.…
There should be two very good games on in the Young Guns competition today. Tuks takes on the Pukke in a battle for top spot in their pool. The Ikeys Trojans and UJ are both after that very important second place in the Steinhoff pool. With the top two teams from each pool qualifying for the semi-finals, it is everything to play for. Glenwood High School in Durban has the honour of hosting the Bizsport Festival over Easter. It is a huge undertaking. There is 12 1st XV teams taking part and running simultaneously are the under-14, under-15, under-16 and 2nd XV games for the various schools. Congratulations must go to the KZNRU for putting on a successful and very entertaining festival at Kings Park. It was well attended and the boys lived up to the billing by playing attractive early season rugby. It seems pointless over-analysing the results because of the format (2 halves of 20 minutes) and the differing motives of the various coaches coming into the games.…
