SBR Super Rugby Superbru Round 4

PMBCOLLEGE_150th_logoUpdated. Super Rugby Round 4 gets underway with a clash difficult to call game in Wellington on Friday. Saturday will see the Stormers desperate to get their campaign back on track following two away defeats. Young Ludz, the only Kings fan in our Superbru was the only one brave mad enough to back his team to beat the Sharks. On Sunday morning the Bulls will surprise a lot of people if they do somehow win against the in-form Blues.

@BOG: My hand is down – I backed the Cheetahs but I think the biggest fools this weekend were those blindly loyal Sharks supporters who backed them against the Brumbies despite 3 weeks of drivel – the last 2 of which did not even produce a try. Where are most of them from again?

@BOG: Was my educated guess close enough. Because that was the end of my weekend, no luck since then …

@GreenBlooded: Ya, well .. golf. Lets just say that my utterly #rsey picks so far are much, much better than my golf. I have left 3 completely knackered playing partners in my wake, exhausted after carrying me for a round of golf.

Karrent say about my cosy setup with the okes from Superbru {nudge nudge, wink, wink, say no more…}, except I know this. Before the next match kicks off there is at least one cynical doubting SOB that will take a snapshot of my picks to compare with what they look like AFTER the match. Not just esor either, but in the 4 other pools I am playing (under my real name, not the “on your way” pseudonym I use here) as well. There is a great deal of wailing and gnashing of teeth going on there, cosYcos one of them is worth about R2000 SA Ront and the other a hamper of sporting kit.

It’s way too early to be in the lead, bound to do a hammie at some stage and have to suffer the slings and arrows of that outrageous fortune

(waiting patiently for the classical readers here to make the dodgy connection between quote and injury….)

@Gungets Tuft: As soon as you are done on the golf-course – would you be so kind as to let us know where you got your crystal ball from? Or are you hacking into the Superbru system somehow? You mentioned somewhere that you had dealings with them and what a nice bunch of guys they were………

@beet: I know, probably this weekend. It is a frikking nightmare weekend to pick. I have built myself a little mound of snow as my high ground, enjoying the pristine view past ou Slammerboy, realising that from here on I could be staring at the packs bristly little starfish as we mush across the tundra .. in a manner of speaking … 6 or nix this weekend

I think the tight forwards are looking a little bit bleak at the moment. Too light weight. Thank goodness the second row has a bit of class about it. Still concerned that our captain is on the brink of being relegated to the VodacomCup.

One word of caution reading all the blogs on 365 now SA teams have had a great weekend and things look better for us. But the 365 blogs are now saying that skill means nothing SA will just completely over power the NZ teams and the old SA way of rugby is far better than NZ and they have being telling us this all along. I would caution the people of thinking are now the world beaters if our smash and bash is the best why have NZ won 69% of there games against us since re-admission why have they won 77% of the Tri Nation and nearly 70% of Super Rugby titles.

One weekend does not define a Super Rugby Season let see what happens next week and then re-look and our World beating teams.

This whole thing of the TMO looking at things up to two moves back is good and bad not to hop on history but a survey done the other day showed some interesting facts here are some of them.

In the last 20 years the Boks have scored 16 tries from forward passes, France,s try in 95 in semi finals against the Boks was a try. The Hurricanes have scored 27 tries from forward passes in Super Rugby.

This list is very long so is this a good thing or not maybe if it is evenly instituted, maybe they should alow the Captains 3 referrels like they do in Cricket maybe a bit much but think if the Chiefs Captain had reffered the last move last night we could have had a different outcome.

So besides the time being added on for games to finish while the TMO checks things out maybe this whole thing is not good?

One area of concern is the Ref, this year as much has i like the Kings every time the Sharks got the upper hand yesterday they got pinged which was more the case of the Sharks overpowering the Kings and not anything ilegal. The Stormers game was well reffed except the last move the Stormers man went off his feet first that was clear and not like the Ref said the Chiefs man and that was slap bang in front of the posts.

The Crusaders were also dealt one poor blow so i dont think any of the Ref mistakes are from biased means but just general mistakes. The Bulls also had one bad call against them and the Highlanders had two poor calls against them.

So far i think anyone of the Sharks/Stormers/Bulls can top our side and be finalisted but lets wait and see.

The Brumbies will win the Aus side by far this year.

And the Chiefs will top the NZ side even after there loss they still going to leave SA with 6 or 7 points so i think they will take that.

And the Kings well as much as i like them the bubble will burst and maybe next week will define there year.

Stormers came to the party and won although will say the Chiefs still look like a well rounded team that could go all the way.

Cheathars well done really upset the NZ applecart although i still predict the Bloem team will stutter and go and land up near the bottom.

Bulls are proving everybody wrong so i think we can say the only team looking like finalist so far are the Brumbies but remember this tournament is about travelling well.

As they say the Super15 is never won in March the results this weekend all go against what people thought there are 8 teams which have a chance of winning this expect many more upsets this year specially against the run of play
