The annual Inter-Provincial Tournament for youth age group club rugby players is being hosted by the Golden Lions Rugby Union and will take place from 04 – 10 October 2015 at the UJ Stadium in Johannesburg.…

After an intense week of youth club rugby hosted by the KZNRU at Woodburn Stadium in Pietermaritzburg, the Blue Bulls and KZN Duikers emerged as winners in the five participating age groups.

The Durban Rugby Sub Union (DSRU) completed yet another successful initiative at the Varsity College Riverside ground in Durban North on Sunday evening where they hosted touring French club Montpellier. The DSRU fills an important gap in the age-group youth rugby market by providing opportunities for youngsters to obtain a high standard of training and compete at a level that enhances their skills. The 2nd weekend of Colts fixtures will take place at Varsity College this Sunday and will feature a match between a DRSU invitational team and the touring French team from Montpellier.   The match will take place at 16:30 on the Varsity College main field.   The tourists reportedly do not speak or understand a word of English so trying to find a suitable referee is proving a challenge.   Joubert is a reasonably French sounding name?   ;)…

The DRSU Colts rugby league kicks off at Toti rugby club this    Sunday.  The first match kicks off at 9.30 am and the final match of the day get’s underway at 16:10.  Teams will compete in the U13A and B,  U15A and B,  U16 and U18 leagues.

Colts rugby provides a platform for the serious and passionate player alike to extend their school rugby season by a further few months.   These players will also compete for coveted places in the DRSU teams who will take part in the IPT in Pretoria over the Michaelmas holiday break.   Trials will be held on a few short weeks at Varsity College.…

It’s not over yet for the DRSU Youth Club Teams as they prepare for a final set of matches this week. The U13 outfit who won bronze at the IPT will face Pirates on Thursday evening whist the main fixtures will takeplace on Saturday where all DRSU teams will take on the Bulls.…

The DRSU teams departed on Sunday to compete in the Youth Club Rugby Inter Provincial Tournament in Kempton Park. 110 boys making up the five 22 strong squads in the U13, U14, U15, U16 and U18 age groups plus their medical, coaching and management teams will spend the week participating in the IPT hosted by the Valke at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park.…

Semi-final weekend got off to a shaky start, with rain threatening to put an end to proceedings before they had begun. Judging by the amount of rain and the state of Kings Park for the Sharks game on Saturday, very few people were optimistic that the games would take place on Sunday. Luckily, Riverside Sports Complex has some of the best drainage in KZN and the fields were perfect on Sunday morning. …

After what has been described as extremely tough trials, the DRSU has announced the IPT 2012 squad that will be representing Durban and surrounding areas youth club rugby in Gauteng at the beginning of October 2012. The squad consists of five 22-player age-group teams.…

There are no club games this weekend due to the “long weekend”.  The games at Harlequins last week went pretty much according to predictions, with Varsity College the only club to record a clean sweep in all their games. Collegians beat Hillcrest 26 – 17 in the featured U13 game, but it was a very even contest and could have gone either way. In the U15A games, Collegians and Varsity College were dominant with Collegians beating Harlequins 47 – 7.  Varsity College were in devastating form, outscoring Rovers by 9 tries to 1.…

Club rugby will take place at Harlequins this Sunday.
