@tzavosky (Comment #93)
Hartseer
@Snelvuur (Comment #94)
so much talent.
@Kaya 85 (Comment #91)
PV is being coached by ex-PRG player and coach Lucas Roothman, so they are investing to get some pedigree into their system. As I understand it, the game against Millies was even closer for a long period of the game. They should get some props (as in accolades, not as in frontrankers 😂)!
@Middies pa (Comment #89)
Bethlehem Voortrekker seem to be improving Bigly!!
Klofies v Menlo sounds like it was a good one too…anybody care to comment give us insight there? Couldn’t make the game had Sat shift…eish.
Heidelberg Volkies on Fire!!? That could be the Gauteng East rugby Hub of hubs…
Good performance by Northcliff knocking a big-ish pvt boys school over. Met the coach last year. Smart, determined…Northcliff the next North-heuwel?? Already kicking it in swimming and athletics.
Good job Marais Viljoen!! Watch them over next 2 -3 years… lots of good planning happening there. Do we have a big sponsor in Alberton could back that program? 5 mill would be nice…
Did Milnerton battle a little in their game v. PV?
Respect to Jeugland.
Respect to Wesvalia.
Respect to HS Middelburg!! Welgedaan Middies.
Respect to the White(shirts)..St Stithians… saw this coming when I caught an early season game live…walked up and down the touch line observing them, draw v Queens no fluke.
@Middies pa (Comment #88)
Yeah…Pumas must definitely get A field time + main match or the game immediately before that. It would be the smart thing *and right thing for the organizers to do.
(Eish, but in this world can you bank on people doing the smart or right thing though?)
@Bloktrui (Comment #21)
Middies het twee naweke terug so vinnig in Tzaneen ‘n draai gemaak vir ‘n “friendly” teen BV. Altyd lekker.
@beet (Comment #87)
He struggled with an injury not too long ago and is only now getting to the same level as last year. I think he will make some heads turn during the CW especially due to the fact that he will play on his home field. I wonder if the powers to be will give Pumas more game time on the A-field as they are the hosts? I hope so.
@Middies pa (Comment #86)
Word is top rated flyhalf Matthew Abbey had a good game
MIDDIES IS TERUG
@Kaya 85 (Comment #83)
Thank you Kaya!
@Smallies (Comment #82)
Can’t wait…
@RuggaFreak (Comment #79)
Well done QC!!
@Kaya 85 (Comment #75)
I think next year will be a good year for the College also
@Kaya 85 (Comment #75)
This is the Grey I have been looking for the whole season….
@Palma (Comment #72)
Agree with you, how’s the crowd support. Incredible, rugby builds the nation. Best game in the world.
Everyone who knows me, knows how much of a proud Old Queenian I am, after yesterday’s victory against an unbeaten and talented St Andrew’s side, I still struggle for words just beaming with pride. What a match! We really get going after festivals. Grey High on Saturday at the Rec. Number 1 vs number 2 on the Wildcone cup rankings(Eastern Cape cup), big game.
@Palma (Comment #72)
And a successful trip for Queens over St Andrews too, banger game. I’m certain the results will adjust their ratings
@Palma (Comment #72)
I rate them. Highly. Pride of the town.
I just don’t know if I got the bandwidth after following the Big 5, NV Cup/Bowl/Plate + my local 4 or 5 favourite schools here in GP. Then I’m still trying to follow Club, URC and Primary school Super League…
@Maroon machine supporter (Comment #61)
I didn’t see that coming,… but hats off to the fine coaches at Jeugland keeping the flame alive. There’s steel there…in the players, coaches and that determination filtering through.
@Smallies (Comment #50)
Well done Grey.
Adams proved he is worth his weight in gold. I can see him in a “Mauvaka” (French 2 at RWC) role. And then Lamla Mngedezi … wow, he really is smokin’ fast.
Both teams were very classy, Affies brought it in a first class match.
@beet (Comment #68)
They have been building quietly for a dew years now ….good to see Queens up there where they belong.
@Palma (Comment #72)
Hi Palma,
That’s an interesting point — the Border triangle derbies are definitely underrated.
When it comes to national exposure, D-Q-S surely still ranks near the top among Eastern Cape schools and arguably enjoys more attention than a number of other schools around the country.
That said, more could definitely be done around here to support Border and the rest of the Eastern Cape. SSS Plus could definitely do more. They have a number of professional journalists and could certainly dedicate more energy to covering the region.
The main challenge, though, seems to be a perceived drop in quality within the region, which has likely contributed to the reduced focus.
The challenge is that a perceived fall in quality
Selborne beats Dale in what felt like a test match. Only one try the whole game coming from Dale. Atmosphere was electric and the crowd at Selborne today was massive, The Border triangular derbies (Dale, Queens, Selborne) are so underrated
@Kantman (Comment #69)
Gravy train.
@yesnomaybe (Comment #69)
Every coach wants to be Rassie – different rules for professional rugby.
Now schoolboy rugby coaches are starting to play the replacement rules to the letter, not the intend (safety).
@Trots HJS (Tandem) (Comment #66)
Never was so much time spend by so many
for so little impact.
@Smallies (Comment #67)
Queen’s just threw a spanner in the works in the determination of this year’s Eastern Cape no.1 team. St Andrew’s were one of a few unbeaten teams this year before the Queenians overpowered them and after last week’s victory against Graeme SAC were still on track with a showdown Grey High looming. Now QC’s match against Grey on the Rec is going to take on new proportions of hugeness
Queens is besig met n hellova seisoen…
@beet (Comment #65)
They were like everyone but it at this early stage of the trials the 3 schools I mentioned had huge numbers of their squads ( much more than most other schools ) involved. And this coming Wednesday the party continues.
@Trots HJS (Tandem) (Comment #63)
Interesting. Not many are fans of how WP trials are run.
Why weren’t BL affected by the trials reshuffle?
KES scored a converted try after the hooter to take it by 1 point vs Noordheuwel. On the day, KES won all the games except U16a.
@BoishaaiPa (Comment #54)
It is that plus ridiculously badly organised WP Craven week trials where a huge number of Boishaai , Paul Roos en Paarl Gym boys where messed around in the week without any logic. Only the WP gravy train can organise something as incompetent.
Taking nothing away from a well coached Wynberg team of course.
@Kaya 85 (Comment #2)
Seems Jeugland caused an upset with a comfortable victory today…
@BoishaaiPa (Comment #58)
Dankie gaan nou nou kyk👍👍
@4×4 (Comment #57)
@Smallies (Comment #55)
@Smallies (Comment #55)
@Wondermaar (Comment #48)
@BoishaaiPa (Comment #53)
@beet (Comment #52)
I think both schools (PR and BH) was a bit spent after 2 big games last weekend…and realised a little late that you cannot even be a little of your game..schools are very close this year.
@Smallies (Comment #50)
My Grey maaitjies was op “all call” regdeur die game en ek moes hulle heeltyd kalmeer…Ek het die Grey wen sien kom na daai Affies video.
I managed to catch bits of both the Boland Landbou vs Paul Roos and the Wynberg vs Boishaai games. Interesting that both powerhouse schools won off the last play of the games. PRG off a maul penalty try and Boishaai off a cut inside try – I think it was Steph who dotted down
@Gold (Comment #49)
Great post. I still have to watch the game. I heard through the grapevine on the golf course that Wynberg did us again..only to hear we pulled the rabbit out of the hat!. Seems like Wynberg has got Boishaai’s number the last 3 years and BH have to bring their best to win but it makes for great Schoolboy rugby!…shows you how close the teams actually are.
@OomPB (Comment #41)
WELL DONE PAARL BOYS
@4×4 (Comment #42)
Affies probeer al 10 jaar😂
ST JOHNS 6-31 JEPPE & KES 23-22 NOORDHEUWEL
And then KES again pull the rabbit out the hat. Well done to them, I eat humble pie.
BMT van PRG, HJS en GCB!
PARKTOWN 22 - 10 ST ALBANS
Congrats to Grey on bouncing back. Losing just wasn’t an option for them today. But the game of the weekend for me has to be Wynberg vs Paarl Boys. What an advert for schoolboy rugby. Wynberg showed courage and grit in bucketloads. They seem to have Paarl Boys number recently? Last year winning in Paarl and the year before Boishaai scoring a long range try in injury time to steal it.
@OomPB (Comment #41)
Grey was regtig baie goed.
Baie geluk Grey, Affies probeer volgende jaar weer, moedige poging aangewend
Grey ook weer terug op die wenpad. Smallies sal seker vanaand n paar charge office koffies vat.
@Sisyphus1866 (Comment #38)
Bitter belowende speler.
@Maroon machine supporter (Comment #36)
Dankie.
@OudAffie (Comment #34)
@Sisyphus1866 (Comment #35)
40-36 PRG…dit nadat PRG 14-36 agter was!
PRG TELLING TEEN BOLAND LANDBOU?
AFFIES TEEN GREY A-SPANNE
15A: Grey wen 29-22
16A: Affies wen 41-33
@OomPB (Comment #32)
Hy is YSTER!! Soos goeie wyn raak hy net beter en beter…
Gert Kemp. Wat n speler.
Sjoe dit was close. Pak forwards to much vir Landbou
PRG played their get out of jail card today…phew
@Grasshopper (Comment #25)
Was a physical game. ‘Attack gets you noticed’ type play, less defence on show. House got pumped by a well drilled Northwood.
@Kaya 85 (Comment #24)
Road trip,it’s official now.One year to plan then.
@Kaya 85 (Comment #24)
Those 90,s middelburg tech sides were no joke
GLENWOOD NOW 2ND TIER
@Grizzly (Comment #11)
@Pypkan (Comment #12)
No jissie ouens I’m also keen next year with Mike and the okes at Middelburg Derby. I played alongside one of HTS’ Yskas Ysters of the 90’s. Tough as Yster, large as an Yskas.
Slight change in fixtures for Parktown. The game against Kempton Park didn’t go ahead in the end. And they play St Albans this weekend.
@MIDDIESPA
@Middies pa (Comment #17)
@AbsolutMenlo (Comment #18)
As jy saam gaan. Belowe… 😇
RIP CORNAL HENDRICKS
@Middies pa (Comment #17)
@Middies pa (Comment #8)

Wynberg 16-34 HJS, Wynberg, flying birds, Sacha Feinberg, whatever, HJS win by +-18

BUTHELEZI’S PREVIEW
Prg will win convincingly at Boland.
Paarl boys are probably the most daunting challenge to face in SA this year but I expect Wynberg to bring the fight to them.
St Andrews vs Queens should be a good watch.
Selborne vs Dale not so much 😬
Sacs vs Rondebosch another big derby.
Affies vs Grey. Affies surely come in as the better team and deserved favourites? But can they do it in Bloem with Greys backs to the wall?
@Pypkan (Comment #12)
Ja right.
@Grizzly (Comment #9)
Jy kan saam met my gaan. Ek kuier gereeld by Mike in Middelburg.
@Middies pa (Comment #10)
OK, gaan dit regtig try maak. Nog een af van die bucket list.
@Grizzly (Comment #9)
@Middies pa (Comment #8)
Sal so maak, miskien volgende jaar. As hy nog daar is, miskien Ken jy hom?
@Grizzly (Comment #5)
Jy is welkom.
@Warrior89 (Comment #6)
its a very exciting division
Ermelo so much history of top rugby, same with both Potch teams…
heck…Randburg even won a Directors Trophy a few years (…decades) ago.
@Kaya 85 (Comment #2)
Think Dinamika’s wheels fell off at the end..but surely was entertaining weekend in the Bowl division, not a division talked about alot. I see Potch Gim going to Randburg this weekend, coming off a good win i Ermelo, heard they had a young team, Randburg fought back, Potch Volkies have a off weekend before the big Potch Derby, who ever is going to Merensky will have a hard time!!
@Middies pa (Comment #3)
Sjoe, at least for once this season we will be tackling human beings on Saturday and not gladiators.
MIDDELBURG DERBY
Kom Middies, gee hulle gas.
@Wondermaar (Comment #1)
Yes I think Dinamika will beat Jeugland, saw them recently…neat, well coached, decent with good general planning happening at the school, sound leadership…Jeugland on the other hand have a grittier team, reliant more on individual x factor. If the game is at Dinamika by the way, just watch out for the boerie rolls to make sure they are cooked all the way through…the young Oomies need to improve those braaiing skills under pressure in my opinion.
