Well I asked BHP to run the numbers regarding whether Paarl Gim could overtake Affies on the BHP SA Top 50 rankings (the formula driven ranking system). In a nutshell the answer is NO! 06 August 2013.  John Mitchell, ex All Blacks player and coach who is famous for guiding the Lions to Currie Cup Victory, will teach approximately 2 400 rugby players from 40 schools around South Africa about what it takes to ‘Power Through’ from school boy rugby to Super Rugby and beyond. He will be demonstrating new techniques, drills and give guidance on other performance related aspects of training, like hydration, before, during and after matches. …

HJS Paarl Boys High beats Paul Roos 21-20

Home team Paarl Boys High scrapped home 21-20 on Brug Street against Paul Roos thanks to a late try, scored with less than 3 minutes left on the clock. In so doing the Blue Army extended their winning streak against the Maroon Machine. The weather conditions were poor but the boys still managed to put on a great entertainment package with five tries thrown in. Also outstanding on the day was the singing by both sets of schoolboy supporters and the settling at Brug Street seemed to amplify their great school spirit.

13 July 2013  Western Province beat the Golden Lions 45-29 in the unofficial final of the 2013 Coca-Cola Craven Week in Polokwane on Saturday.

The win meant that Western Province became the only team at the week to win all three of their games, and they were rewarded with the inclusion of seven of their players in the SA Schools team that was announced at the end of the tournament.…
