WP & KZN call up replacements

Injuries in both the Western Province and KwaZulu-Natal camps have forced them to fly in replacement players for Craven Week at Polokwane in Limpopo Province.

Western Province has called up their Academy Week captain Danté van der Merwe (HJS Paarl Boys High) to replace fullback Khanyo Ncgukana (Rondebosch).

KwaZulu-Natal has been forced to make two changes.

Academy Week loosehead prop Tjide Visser (Kearsney) replaces Koos Tredoux (Glenwood), and
Academy Week fullback Chris Lines (Kearsney) replaces Corné Vermaak (Glenwood)

Congratulations to Chris Lines, he has had a fantastic season and will add another dimension with his pace and X-Factor. I thought he was unlucky to be left out in the 1st place.

So the best player (IMO) at the Academy Week also gets an opportunity at Craven Week. Here’s hoping WP plays Dante against the Bulls.

Shame I feel sorry for Corne and Koos, must be serious injuries and opportunities missed. Koos at least has next year. Hopefully both fully recover. Well done to Tjide and Chris, brilliant opportunities now take them tomorrow….
