@PRondersteuner: PG and PRG on the Farm, Bois at our favourite away venue Brug. Of the Towners we will welcome Bishops and Berg on the Farm and play SACS and Bosch, who I think will have a good team, away. Oakdale will be in Riversdale and the return fixture against Framesby will be on the Farm.

@Ploegskaar: Hahahahaha!!!! Just joking. Looks like 2015 can be a very good year. Am I correct in saying that PRG, PG and PBH must visit the “plaas” next year?

@PRondersteuner: Now who needs motivational material for next year, when your proper team visits the wannabe team on the Farm, where they properly lost on their last visit…cut and paste

@Ploegskaar: I’m just wondering about them, because the way they were “talked up” at the beginning of the season, I thought they would be top 10 contenders. And of course with a whole lot of WP CW and AW players.

@Ploegskaar: You can’t really compare the two games. The “plaas” battle was played on a very wet field between wannabe “great” sides. The other one was played on a dry hard field between two proper great sides. :-D

@PRondersteuner: I never thought they were that physical to be honest, just very slick at the back from good 1st phase possession and clean front-foot ball from subsequent phases. The inter-play between forwards and backs were also very good once they had obtained momentum. The opponents that they lost against out-muscled them upfront, resulting in very little and poor ball from all phases, and also had better organized and structured defenses from all phases and in general play.

@Speartackle: Glad you also thought it was a proper battle. Unlike that person that wrote the match report of the Boland/Oakdale game and informed me that it was a dour affair, compared to the glitzy tits and ass circus game played somewhere in a small town in central SA, on a concrete pitch, covered in straw. Apparently the latter game was so much faster, exciting, exhilarating and entertaining!

It is clear that a mechanism must be introduced in the formula to penalize soft-cocks that cancel matches (while rewarding the affected opponent in some way) and soccer schools that only twinkle around for a couple of semesters and play a handful of games.

@Ploegskaar: Yes sure, but they did not even get close to beating any on the Winelands Big 3. According to what I’ve heard at the beginning of the season, they are a very physical side. IMO playing attractive rugby, but loosing, is plain stupid. PRG played attractive rugby at times this year, but were unbeaten in WP. Don’t you think Bishops should do the same?

Good to see Michaelhouse as the top private school in the country, good recovery after last year. Well done Ryno and Mike. I predict they’ll be even better next year.

@PRondersteuner: I must be honest, I think Bishops have had quite a good season (10/16) and if there was an award for playing the most attractive rugby/what we would define as schoolboy rugby, they would win it hands down. They have lost against the Winelands Big 3, Glenwood and Wynberg (twice), with the correlation between these opponents being their big forwards that executed their set-piece and structured phase play very well. Bishops simply could not match these opponents upfront, and towards the end of the season, less so on the heavier fields.

Just the fact that Affies ‘withdrew’ against some schools should actually see them much lower down the rankings

Can anyone from Bishops explain to me what happened to them in the second half of the season? They started off with a bang and were a top 10 candidate. Injuries?

Klerksdorp wat bo Affies gegradeer is, het soos Affies ook 7 wedstryde verloor, maar die skole teen wie hulle gespeel het, is feitlik almal onder hulle gegradeer. Affies se sewe is ver hoër gegradeer.

It’s a pity those April Merry-go-around festival friendlies’ results carry so much weight in the rankings and not rather these crunch end of year games (when it really matters)

I think in this regard schools like Nelspruit, Monnas, Florida and Eg Jansen should all be in the Top 10. I can’t see Glenwood, Wynberg and even Paarl Boys beating any of these teams if played now.

By ‘now’ I mean, this time of the season when the peak should be reached. Look at the Sharks in Super XV, they reached their peak in May and by July they were Sport Pienaar quality.

Think Wynberg & HTS Louis Botha had a good 2014 and then Affies had a not so good one. Pleased to see good stability with Nelspruit, Final BHP ranking last year 12… same position this year. Combo rankings we were 7 th last year and should be top 10 this year as well! The two years combined we won 23 out of 31 !! With great records over the two years over Monument (2 wins), HTS Middelburg (3 wins,2 losses), Garsfontein (3 wins, 1 loss), Kempton (2 wins)… we owe EG a favour or two (2 losses). All in all a great two years for Nelspruit. Last year Puma champs, Tuks finalist and Beeld semi finalist also national sevens title, this year again Puma champs, Tuks 3 rd place and Makro Beeld champions! Well done boys & coaches!! Build on this! Go Rhino’s!! Lifting a cup always better than a good ranking (even thou rankings is important to see overall achievement..thank you BHP!) ..Cant wait for next year!
