I think everyone with an opinion on rankings also have the right to develop their own ranking system.

So lets have your ranking systems. Instead of just surmising and criticizing.

You are right Kaya, Helpies seem way too strong to be at 44. They have a brutal schedule though – Affies, Oakdale, Gim, Waterkloof,Monnas, EG the list goes on. Their losses against Voortrekker Beth and Rustenberg must have affected their position but I guess those unexpected losses can come when you are playing bruising matches week after week.

Hey Buthelezi I think Hilton’s wins over Boland Landbou and Grey High early in the season must have helped their position on the table. Besides the usual Natal games, they played Nelspruit, Pretoria Boys and Kingswood.

Helpmekaar (44?) is a better team than Michaelhouse (13 huh?)…and beat them in early season. Always appears to be an inherent but supposedly unknown bias in this ranking…

Agreed. It seems this ranking system hardly takes into account quality of opposition as much as is necessary. Which is also why schools like Northwood, Hilton and Michaelhouse are so high. In my opinion Sacs, Helpmekaar and Wynberg would beat those schools more often than not.

Lichtenburg se juniorspanne is egter baie teleurstellend.

Tough question without a clear answer.. I would assume it has mainly to do with the quality of opposition they face throughout the season. The tougher the opposition, the more difficult to get wins or close losses, making it difficult to accumulate points. Having easier games provides better opportunities for wins, although fewer ranking points, it still adds up. That is why a team like Charlie H or Lichtenburg performs well this year on the rankings, and teams like Outeniqua, Marais Viljoen or Menlopark don’t even feature. If you slip the fall can be severe. Even Helpmekaar at 44 indicates the impact a tough schedule has.

I am by no means a rankings-guru, this is just my take on it. All rankings are speculative, especially from 20 downwards. Only once everybody plays everybody, will we truly know.

Sacs so low is very harsh. Considering they’ve put 60 points past a school ranked ahead of them

I do not know where the difference comes in, but I slightly favour the SBR rankings. Still a fan.
