I also agree. Winning the competition comes with the great bonus of having a 2nd team at the tournament the next year. Then the focus can be 1 team for winning, one team for developing.

Fully agree. Need to agree a strategy that can make the Academy team perform. Could start by having your second best coaching team there, with say in how team is selected.

Not a great Academy week for WP, again. Little cohesion with obvious defensive frailties and way too many deer in headlights players that were found out. Time to decide if we are serious with this team and if selecting a strong u17 team is maybe the way forward

I’ve been impressed with the Lions Academy side.
James Kobrowisky stands out for me. He is an absolute workhorse, and for his size? Impressive. He’s a fearless boy, it was him who got the Jeppe old boys riled up on derby day, I’m all for it.

The Jeppe Boys too are pulling their weight thankfully this isn’t a post about a KES boy lol. Wish them luck in the final.

I believe that the Lions get an extra team as they “won” Academy week last year. And they’ve chosen to send an u17 Welpies team as well as their first team. Was also a bit confused by the way it is listed above. But what an opportunity for the boys! Just had a look and they almost beat the Blue Bulls team. Only lost right at the end due to a penalty once the hooter had gone. Incredible stuff

So this kicks off tomorrow! Almost forgot!! 2 Lions teams playing tomorrow. Both listed as U18’s but is one side the U17 Welpies? Bit confused…
