SACS came back down to earth with a bang against Paarl Gimnasium. Playing at home SACS had high hopes of upsetting the Boland powerhouse but it was not to be as they succumbed 39-15 (Half time 22-3) on an overcast morning in Newlands. …

For the second week in a row The South African College High School (SACS) travelled a short distance down the road to one of their traditional Southern Suburb rivals, this time Rondebosch Boys’ High. Once again the hosts were firm favourites, most of their largely Grade 12 team, having never lost a Southern Suburbs derby in their High School careers. Leading rugby schools in Western Province were summoned to attend a meeting at headquarters earlier this week, where they were told that the use of the squad system which involves using fresh reserves off the bench for 1st XV inter-schools matches, would no longer be permitted.…

The South African College High School (SACS) travelled down the road to Diocesan College (Bishops) for another instalment in the oldest schoolboy rugby match in recorded history. Bishops have been in a rich vein of form this season and playing at home they were clear favourites even though SACS have been playing well themselves. Bishops started like a house on fire…

In 2015, Paul Roos Gymnasium celebrates their 150th birthday. As part of those celebrations, the school has organised an outstanding rugby day on Saturday, 28 March 2015.

Apart from 60+ rugby teams, there are also 20 schools competing in netball over the weekend, so something for everybody. All the kids participate for free, including meals on Friday evening and Saturday thanks to Porterville’s great sponsors.[1200 participate,700 sleepover].…

This year’s 1st XV senior group has achieved really good results coming up through the age-groups.…

At Paul Roos, 2015 marks the start of their 150th year of existence. However the first few days of the new school year saw some of their avid adult rugby supporters stopping to focus on a disappointment rather than the celebrations that are set to come at the school. The unhappiness was caused when it was discovered that one of their top sportsmen (rugby and athletics) from last year’s under-15 age-group would not be returning to the school as he had joined rivals Paarl Gymnasium.…

Its turning into quite an eventful off season in the Western Cape and its the big rugby schools in Cape Town schools that are mainly responsible for creating the headlines.…

Wynberg Boys’ High 1stXV completed a season double over traditional rivals the South African College High School (SACS). After another week of rain and cold the skies opened and the match was played in warm weather before a large crowd. Hosts SACS threw everything at Wynberg but the well-oiled Wynberg machine bided their time and took their chances better to run out 34-5 winners.…

Bishops and Rondebosch combined  to produce a beautiful entertaining game of expansive rugby on Saturday. Bishops last completed a double over Rondebosch in 2008 and since then the games have been a see-saw ride with the surprising feature being that neither team was able to win on their own home ground.…
