Monnas Centenary Festival back on track after drama

21 Apr, 2021 beet 51

DigiTV are in a fight against time to fix technical issues ahead of the festival kickoff on 23/04/2021

New Fixtures – updated 21/04/2021

As new information came to light, it turned out that Monnas had been let down. Promises of a sponsor being onboard never materialised. There was no sponsor!  With little over a week to go until kickoff, a third party initially responsible for organising the festival announced it was off.  100 years of history was not about to be buried and forgotten though. For those who care about Monnas, it presented an opportunity to show what could be achieved by working hard together in the face of adversity.

Paragraph from document confirming the inability to obtain a sponsor
It is important that we are transparent with all stakeholders and in this respect, we must inform you that due to some major obstacles experienced over the course of preparations we have been unable to secure a title sponsor for the tournament. This ultimately placed immeasurable pressure on us and the organizers of this event. Regrettably, we have been unable to overcome this hurdle to date, despite fighting to the bitter end

Media release: Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival 2020

20 Feb, 2020 Beet 2

KEARSNEY EASTER RUGBY FESTIVAL

In line with President Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of a National State of Disaster last night, the 13th Standard Bank Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival has been cancelled.

Kearsney headmaster Elwyn van den Aardweg said South Africans need to come together to support each other at this hour and adopt a spirit of social responsibility and civic-mindedness to support the national effort and minimise the impacts within the country.

Next year is Kearsney’s centenary and a special edition of the festival is being planned with exciting new teams, Van den Aardweg said.  These include a number of schools with which Kearsney has had a long relationship over many decades, to ensure a suitable commemoration of the 100-year milestone with schools that have been traditional friends and rivals.…

The 11th Wildeklawer and 8th at Diamandveld takes place on 02 and 04 May 2019 and once again offers some outstanding and much anticipated match-ups.

Framesby and Paul Roos are trading places. Rejoining Wildeklawer are Framesby, South Africa’s SANIX representatives for the last two seasons. They step into the vacancy created by Paul Roos’ decision to accept the invitation to participate at the SANIX in Japan in 2019.
