The Western Province Rugby Institute (WPRI) recently held an opening function to welcome this year’s batch of aspiring professionals to their world class facility in Stellenbosch. Judging by the talent they managed to secure, there is every chance that a WP under-19 team coming out of this group could contain as much skill and potential as the successful WP under-19 team of 2010.…
A good way to describe Paul Roos supporters ahead of the 2014 season is quietly confident. No one is under any kind of illusion either. Annually Paul Roos has one of the most demanding school rugby schedules in the country which affords them little room for comfort. That said there is a reason why they are labelled as one of South African school rugby’s powerhouse teams. …

The recent returns from injury of Paarl Gim’s lock JD Schickerling and centre Ryan Oosthuizen, two players that haunted Outeniqua during Gimmies 37-25 victory back in April, is bound to have a significant effect on the outcome when the two sides meet again in this year’s Burger Trophy main final. Look at these super results……

Well I asked BHP to run the numbers regarding whether Paarl Gim could overtake Affies on the BHP SA Top 50 rankings (the formula driven ranking system). In a nutshell the answer is NO! Just as the first sighting of a robin signifies the start of spring in England, so the massive Interschools clash in Paarl, the SWD showdown and the start of the second round of the southern suburbs derbies on Saturday 3 August 2013 herald the closing stages of the local schools rugby season.…
Home team Paarl Boys High scrapped home 21-20 on Brug Street against Paul Roos thanks to a late try, scored with less than 3 minutes left on the clock. In so doing the Blue Army extended their winning streak against the Maroon Machine. The weather conditions were poor but the boys still managed to put on a great entertainment package with five tries thrown in. Also outstanding on the day was the singing by both sets of schoolboy supporters and the settling at Brug Street seemed to amplify their great school spirit.…
Paarl Boys High have an astonishing school A-team record in Western Province inter-schools at the moment. They have lost one A-team game in sixteen matches this season.
