Home team Paarl Boys High scrapped home 21-20 on Brug Street against Paul Roos thanks to a late try, scored with less than 3 minutes left on the clock. In so doing the Blue Army extended their winning streak against the Maroon Machine. The weather conditions were poor but the boys still managed to put on a great entertainment package with five tries thrown in. Also outstanding on the day was the singing by both sets of schoolboy supporters and the settling at Brug Street seemed to amplify their great school spirit.…

Paarl Boys High have an astonishing school A-team record in Western Province inter-schools at the moment. They have lost one A-team game in sixteen matches this season. This puts them top of the pile in the province that we need not remind everyone, has won the under-18, under-16 and under-13 national provincial titles in 2013. …

JD Schickerling, the 2.03m, 107kg Paarl Gim lock has been sidelined for a further six weeks and will therefore not take part in the up and coming under-18 international series.…

13 July 2013  Western Province beat the Golden Lions 45-29 in the unofficial final of the 2013 Coca-Cola Craven Week in Polokwane on Saturday.

The win meant that Western Province became the only team at the week to win all three of their games, and they were rewarded with the inclusion of seven of their players in the SA Schools team that was announced at the end of the tournament.…

The blonde centre has made a name for himself with standout attacking play that combines all the elements sort after for success at senior level. Oosthuizen is know for his x-factor ability to challenge defences with ball in hand or help beat them with accurate and at times visionary distribution skills. His game is build around good instantaneous decision-making. He is also a key component of the sound Gimmies defence that has suffocated many opponents this season.…

It’s been reported that star Paarl Gymnasium, WP Schools and SA Schools 2012 lock JD Schickerling broke his arm during the match against Rondebosch and may have to miss Craven Week altogether.…

The WP schools rugby selectors have announced the three final Under 18 trials teams, which will practice at De Kuilen on Monday 13 and 20 May 2013 and then, after any tweaking necessitated by injury, take on their Boland counterparts at Wellington on Wednesday 22 May.…

Paarl Boys High overcame a determined San Isidro from Argentina 38-20 after leading 24-6 at the break. The match played in 37 degree heat was Boishaai’s first for 2013. Judging by the result and the calibre of the opposition who’s reputation had been enhanced by good showings against Drostdy and Paul Roos, Boishaai has all rights to feels happy about this positive start to the season.…

Blue Bulls scout Xander Janse van Rensburg, who is known to travel the length and breadth of South Africa during the school rugby season in search of talent to sign up for the Loftus based team and the University of Pretoria, is in the Western Cape at the moment. Since the local school season is still weeks away from kicking off, his much earlier than anticipated trip down south has a number of loyal Province officials feeling a bit uncomfortable. …

The Western Province Rugby Institute (WPRI) officially came into being in 2007. Its objective is to tap into the vast rugby talent pool that exists in the Western Cape and then to fill any positional gaps with players from outside the region. The Institute accepts that it is not the beginning point of rugby development (schools are), nor is it the end point, however what it has set out to achieve is use a one year programme to transform dedicated rugby players from “young boys into rugby playing men.” …
