Last year KZN and WP played the U13 final with WP winning.
Do we have the full list of U13 results?
@Queenian: On the other hand, it looks like Border under 13 did very well in the provincial 7s tournament. Losing to the eventual champions Lions in the semis, and coming 3rd after beating Boland in the 3-4 playoff. They had beaten the Lions in the group games on Day 1 mind you. They also beat KZN, WP and SWD.
@Queenian: Hahahahaha!No ways!
@Djou: Couldnt agree more!These boys have been playin rugby since March. Easter – festivals, June – Craven Week, September – 7s…come on, surely one adult out there can see that this is too much.Where the heck is the balance???
I see Border lost all there games by an identical score 0-10 that must be a record in itself.
@Djou: Agree with you 100%
The reality is that only a very few of these boys will ever become professional players, with an even smaller margin actually making enough money to survive once their rugby is finished.
At school, Academics must come first
The organisers should think again before staging this tournament during school holidays – and so late in the season. Many provinces had watered down teams with players preferring to study for matric exams, or just taking a break, especially as many of them also participated in Craven Week – thus also no June holidays.
Sometimes I wonder whether the organisers and sponsors care about the boys’ academics. Including SARU who organises international games during a critical matric exam preparation period. If you don’t make it in rugby you will also lose out on a good matric pass score – as a result of all these ill timed games and tournaments.
@meadows: so is that 9th? Not great really, but to lose by only 2 the finalists isn’t bad.

KZN lost to SWD and EP in their pool sending them into the Bowl comp. score in the SWD game was 26-24.
@Grasshopper: Final was Valke – SWD. Blue bulls and WP played for 3rd and 4th.
Free State lost the Plate final ( I think Pumas won it )
I think KZN won the bowl final
I think Griffons won the Shield final
So KZN made the final or am I misreading Ploeg?
@jakes: Jakes, there were no EG Jansen players involved.
Nobody from EG Jansen even knew when or where the trials were held.
This is a great pity, as I believe they have one of the best 7’s players in the region, if not the country.
Unfortunately, due to reasons other than rugby, he will probably never play 7’s at high school level.
@BoishaaiPa: Baie waar.
@Grasshopper: Sorry, I was referring to their win over WP in the semi’s. They unfortunately lost to the Valke in the final, but hell, it was always a pleasure to see those boys play.
Can’t believe what I just read- Valke won the champion chip. Great things happening there at schoolboy level..How many EG Jansen players represented the Valke team?Any one who knows?
@BoishaaiPa: Jip, Valke het gewen.
@Ploegskaar: Yes, they were a good team with some good individuals, but the Grey team of 2010 was better in my opinion and with better individuals ..Two of them already played for the Boks!..Goosen and Serfontein…add to that players like Small-Smith, Jordaan, Luiters, Marais etc.
How did KZN do?
So who won the tournament then?..Valke?
@Ploegskaar: @Grasshopper: @burra: SWD was leading at halftime 17-0, Or thereabouts, and lost the game 17-21.
@Grasshopper: Yes SWD won the tournament
Well done to them
@Ploegskaar: Human will end up a great Sevens Bok, just don’t see him in the 15’s game. Did SWD win the tourno?
Congrats to SWD with their win, and thank you to Human, Galant and co. for all the entertainment, especially over the past 3 years. We will be lucky to see so many players with so much ball sense in one school again soon.
Great win by the Valke against the Bulls in the semis. Not sure if the Oosrand faithful enjoyed Gerrie Labuschagne’s victory dance after his tries
scores?
