@CharlesZA: Charles hy is nie in matriek nie. Graad 10. Hy was wel volgens n paar kenners (nie Brakkies manne nie) by die vorige proewe in n klas van sy eie.
Die proewe is by Bellville skool.

    Soos hierdie rankings: http://www.saschoolsports.co.za/rugby/national/u16-rugby-the-u16-belgotex-sports-rankings-for-this-week-17-05-2017.html

Paar voorbeelde, Affies se O16B verloor 28-31 teen Oos Moot se O16A. Hulle A span is 15 plekke laer gerank.

So asof hul nie gerate word nie. WK is in my opinie die gunsteling in PTA Beeld. Monnas se verdediging was goed.

The Reunion Day at College was rather one sided – with College not loosing a rugby match (they lost 2 hockey games in the U16 age group).

Ek was Saterdag by die Monnas Klofies wedstryd gewees.

Hulle was toe altyd gedugte teenstanders.

Dit wys net hoeveel plaaslike talent hier is.

Nou goed – outeniqua klop Monnas , Gim klop Affies so is daai twee spanne ook average.

Well done Brackenfell !

So ja Eldo n baie goeie rekord gespoil.

Wonderboom het ook baie mooi karakter getoon teen Zwartkop…hulle het ‘n baie groot nederlaag teen OM in genoemde PUK reeks gely…so well done for coming back

@Bush: College is hospitable on Reunion day, but not generous. I can’t say I remember a great deal of the lead up, we had our class reunion on Thursday, and by all reports we had a really good time. Saturday, excellent, the boys always raise the tempo a bit. A little over eager in the 1st team game, discipline definitely letting them down. 2 yellows and a red (for a second yellow), not good enough. Credit to House though, they didn’t leave anything out there and until the last College try had us all worried about their strong finish. What a game, not a single shot at a 3-pointer (at least I can’t remember one), 10 or 11 tries, brilliant advert for schoolboy rugby.

@Playa: Not just Goldstones, the whole of College was on fire. House didn’t win one game yesterday. Even though they came down to altitude???. House were their own worse enemies. Quick taps taken 5m from the try line and then giving the possession away. Lineout work was dreadful. College must have played at least 20 mins with 14 men and still managed to score two tries. These things happen to the best of teams, I mean look at GCB. Well done on your teams result. That’s a great win and then Kings chowed the Sharks. ??????bad day for me. Lucky I’m not a betting man, bookings would be looking for my wors right now.

@Roger: what about a full length Helpies game? With a refree that understand scrums and that you do NOT hit on the engage or set. That was specifically changed in the rules and properly F…ed up by referee.
I acknowledge the 10-5 score to Helpies in trials could move anywhere later in game.
Would love a full match with all role players participating.

@Stier: thanks – they’re a lovely free flowing team to watch – even for the haters  Maybe Affies would have turned it on in the 2nd half – who knows – definite clash of styles and (even if I was neutral) I prefer the way KES approach the game. It was nice to see the concern on the Affies faces after watching the KES junior teams getting dominated in the freezing rain in Pretoria

So chuffed for the Dalians.Heart attack stuff going from leading 22-5 with 10 min to go a great comeback from Selborne to end with a respectable final score. The Graveyard faithful would have been relieved to hear the final whistle.

Paarl Boys will be a mountain for anyone who faces them.To miss 5 kicks and still put 46 points on this Grey side is something special.

Surprise result for Framesby v Boland 8-O
Goldstones must have been on fire.I’m also surprised by Glenwoods winning margin vs Menlo.Green machine looks to be on track to make a statement.

Dit lyk vir my of daar hierdie jaar baie meer kompeteerende skole is as in die verlede of die gapping tussen skole is baie kleiner as ander jare.

@warriors7: They were ahead when the game was stopped, which is not to say that they would have won. there was still 45 minutes left to play….but yes thery where ahead, and when they replay the game they will also face a 100% fit Affies side with Potgieter, Combrink, Els and Tshungo back.

But not to take anything away from them for the first 25 minutes they were the better team as the scoreboard suggests.

Other results in the Western Cape : Drosdy 32- Bishops 26 ; Framesby 19 – Boland Landbou 16 ; Rondebosch 39 – Bellville 34 ; Grey PE 40 – Wynberg 30. The surprises for me was Ploegie,s Boland team,s loss against Framesby. Geez ! The farm boys are very unpredictable. They will on occation (quite regularly) outplay some of the so-called big boys, just to lose the next time against a team, that they normally should not have trouble in beating.
Then Bellville also almost caused an upset over Rondebosch, losing narrowly.
Wynberg, who is not having a great season, also did fairly well against a powerfull Grey PE.

Baie geluk Stellenberg. Stellenberg se o16 is regtig goed!

Vir Stellenberg was Angelo weer top klas.

Affies coach should just phone Bellville coach Andras (Greenman should know him well ?) and have a chat about the KES/Bellville game at Wynberg Fest. A run through the game vid after the 16-8 result should fill the gaps

@Hooit: and that is exactly why the enforcer would have made a difference. That is what he does – making the ball available to own team and ensuring poor ball to opponents.
You should make a point of watching the games a bit closer. Seems quite a bit of detail passes you bye.

@Hooit: Monday at trails not n great indicator. Helpies vs KES only played for 10 min. At Wildeklawer if you watched the game of Helpies vs Selbourne and you stopped watching after the first 11 min you would have said that Selbourne going to give Helpies a great hiding. Result was? No, trail games say nothing at all.
As old @ Spear said ones there is a huge difference in playing a 60 min game compare to a 70 min game. Now I am not even talking about a 40 min (more like 10 min) game.

They had won six games in a row, including Stellenberg, Outeniqua and Marlow and then went on to lose to Paarl Gim (no disagrace) and beat Paul Roos. If that is a “bad place” then I’d hate to see them in a good place as they’d break the 1,000 day unbeaten record!!

@Playa: Agree that my comment a bit harsh BUT. Defenses by Cape English schools are attrocious – KES festival. Waterkloof was still in a very bad place when they played KES. They seem to have turned it around. KES is a hype team. Let’s see what they do under pressure. I may be swallowing my words this time on Saturday, but it will be accompanied by some of the Cape’s smoothest red and a good helping of Pofadder – to ease the shame.

@Riempies: Yep, can’t disagree with that. Apparently Affies were unlucky with most of their losses this year. I can only comment on the game that I watched v HJS. From my viewpoint, Affies scored the winning try to beat HJS, but the ref was unsighted…and there are no remarks columns in the scorebooks.

As you say, it could be a very long afternoon for KES taking on a frustrated, large, well drilled team in their first home game of the season…but you never know.

@star: Howzit Star, I would wear your other jersey over your other one. If I was a gambling man which I’m obviously not, (just a few black labels up and a grand down) I would wear the white jersey on Saturday. Don’t know if you watched the House Hilton game, but Hilton were impressive. They have a big side, great loose forwards and backs that can play. They are very well drilled and execute at pace and their support play was excellent.

@Vleis: I think KES will battle upfront. They tried a few rolling malls on Monday and got nowhere. Affies very good in that department. KES backs very dangerous and do the runaround very well. They also lign up normal backline after few phases and have 2 to 3 extra players then standing very wide. Defenders don’t notice this and when you defend to inside, easy overlaps are created. Their defenses are also fragile when stretched. Win it in front and you will dominate (just limit own mistakes – obviously).

@BrotherBear: Ooooh…a bit harsh on some opposition KES has faced there…College (who have only lost to unbeaten sides in the top 6), Waterkloof (with Paul Roos – who happen to have beaten Helpies & Affies, Outeniqua and Stellenberg as scalps), Bishops and Rondebosch are value sides.
Not much between the two sides in my opinion. Coin toss as to who will win, it really is one of those “we will see on the day” things. Why I think Affies might sneak in a win is because this will be their first home game of the season – it may be a sentimental match for the boys…where I tend to doubt my prediction is that KES have a 2/2 record in Pretoria this year, so they may not be phased by facing a powerhouse from Tshwane. Either way, this game has the makings of an epic clash.

@BrotherBear: I wouldn’t say that this KES’s first tough match, as they’ve played 3 out of the 4 WP SS schools and they’ve beaten Waterkloof away…you know, the school that beat Outeniqua, Stellenberg, Paul Roos, etc. How did you guys go against Paul Roos?

That said, I think that KES may struggle v Affies, as Affies is the type of team that hammers good opponents when they get a whiff of blood (like Helpies last year). I think that KES may match Affies up front, but I don’t think that they have the size and pace to cope in the backs…unless they are very, very quick on the rush defence.

The Westville v Hilton game is also special as it is OB day. I think there will be a record number at the dinner on Friday night and so the mayhem could flow onto the match day. Hopefully the weather will hold and Westville do their legion proud. It will not be easy as this Hilton team is trucking nicely. I might just have to have a reserve jersey at hand just in case.

Affies is soveel meer as net rugby!

UITREIK – LAERSKOOL GENERAAL NICOLAAS SMIT

Die reaksie was oorweldigend. Namens almal by Affies en ook al die dankbare mense by Laerskool Generaal Nicolaas Smit ‘n opregte woord van dank.

U bydrae maak ‘n enorme verskil.
