@CharlesZA: Soos hulle in Engels sê, that’s an unfortunate comment. Mens moet somryds sonder jou skoolbril kan kyk as jy wil saampraat.

Wil vir my dus voorkom of my informante se inligting darem tog redelik in die kol is. So!

The final count for the rugby Grey vs Boishaai in Bloemfontein. Grey won 16 Boishaai 10 and 3 matches drawn. The thing that was interesting is that Grey’s under 19 teams struggled but at the lower age groups they had more wins by far, some really close scores especially under 14.

@odie15: Yes last year Michael box kicked a lot I also noticed that this year they don’t really use it. Funny against Affies I thought they should have used it much more, it could have been very effective with their 12 that kept pressing up so hard. I guess this team is not just a one trick pony as some here suggest.

Hopelik herstel hy binnekort.

@HJS Pa: @Blou Trein: @Stier: I appreciate that we can disagree on calls around. My comment is based on observation without emotional connection to the outcome and not just in one game. No malice intended towards the player who’s character I do not know and who I thought had an influential game for the first 2/3’s or Boishaai. Many questionable things happen on a rugby field but I’d be the first to agree that to label a player a cheat is definitely uncalled for. If any player intentionally goes offside, deliberately knocks a ball on, knowingly enters a ruck from the side, holds the ball on the ground, knocks on but carries on playing, makes a judgement error high tackle and the list goes on and on, we don’t label those players as cheats or personally attack their characters for what they did wrong in those moments, we accept it as part of the game but we also hope that the referees make the right decisions under the circumstances.

The 2015 DHL Western Province Under-16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo team is as follows:

    Thaakir Abrahams (Paarl Boys’ High)
Keagan Adams (Western Cape Sport School)
    Suhaib Agmoedien (Rondebosch Boys’ High)
    Willem Barnard (Paarl Boys’ High)
    Henry Chamberlain (Paarl Boys’ High)
    Albert Coetzee (Boland Landbou)
    Angelo Davids (Stellenberg High)
    Vusile Dlephu (SACS)
    Muller du Plessis (Paarl Gimnasium)
Joshua du Preez (Paarl Boys’ High)
    Luca Ferreira (Paarl Boys’ High)
    Wian Fourie (Paarl Boys’ High)
Franco Horn (Paarl Boys’ High – captain)
    Gerado Jaars (Paul Roos Gimnasium)
Yazeed Karriem (MIT Rangers Youth Club)
    Ian Kitwanga (Parklands College)
    Cornel Kotze (Paarl Boys’ High)
    Christian Leech (Paul Roos Gimnasium)
    Duran Nasson (Boland Landbou)
    Christiaan Slabbert (Paul Roos Gimnasium)
    Marthinus Strauss (Paarl Boys’ High)
    Aaron Zederberg (SACS)

So ja !
Dit is nou aldus my vriende !

@meleond: @HJS Pa: an opinion…could be correct….could be incorrect. Opinion is the pack of fwds were drilled in last 25 min. Couple of the tries weren’t due to card. 1 was a knockon from kickoff…quick hands to wing and score…other was player anticipating long pass and going through to score. There were plenty pressure moments…I think Boishaai video analysis the week before picked up on and got players to push in those places. Also I noticed scrummy box kick 1st time Boishaai used that this year….

@chief: I made an observation based on Boishaais performance the last five of so years. Boishaai lost quite a few games in the last few minutes of games when they were leading four or five seasons ago. The last three seasons they have changed that trend around and now they are winning games in the last few minutes or with a good second half performance. There conditioning is definitely much better the last three years.

@beet: @chief: As I pointed out before, Vian was lucky not to get a yellow so was the Boishaai wing. Like I also pointed out Grey’s no 5 (tip tackle when Boishaai player scored try, not even a penalty nevermind a card) 12 (pulling a player by the collar while in the air after the whistle has gone, once again not even a penalty) what about the high sholder charge on Franke when he kicked the ball through, no card? Both sides got away with a few things. As for Vian fakeing it, sorry no way beet. During the Affies game he took a swinging boot to the face and recieved several stitches but he finished the game and played like a monster. That boy is hard and won’t go down for no reason. If you are suggesting that he is a cheat it is unfortunate.

Of cource it is most welcome to get more opinions and banter from bloggers. However , it seems that a number of our long standing regular contributors have gone AWOL, or is under cover. Also do not see many Paarl Gim bloggers, apart from Guts and Glory. Waar kruip jul Gimmies weg ? The Hoppers, with the exception of Greenman, are also very quite, in spite of a stellar season thus far.
I wonder if this has something to do with the success, or lack thereof, of the various schools ? Any thoughts on this ?

@chief: When I watched the recorded match on Saturday evening I witnessed the incident you described and was actually thinking about doing a blog about incidents like that high tackle. Like many others who follow the blog closely I watch a lot of SBR matches. What was once rare seems to be on an upward growth path now. It involves reacting in a particular manner to a cardable high tackle offence. The perpetrator does down in a heap, fakes injury to the extent that it appears to be very serious, requires the match to be stopped, the player to receive medical assistance and eventually be helped off the field. From what I’ve seen, school referees mainly out of sympathy respond very leniently and often don’t brandish cards. The strategy works. Once play is underway, the players make miraculous recoveries and return to the action. I’m not sure I should be laughing while I’m typing this but thinking back I’ve seen a few Hollywood Academy Award winning performances over the years.  I’m not sure this is exactly what happened in Saturday’s game but I’ve seen it often enough to be suspicious.

@CharlesZA: Nee sorry man.

My maat !

@odie15: Ja! Shaun D was still very much part of the trials today. However, with the likes of Francke, Wian and the no. 8 of Gim, Henco Martins(who I think will move to no.7) in the mix, I do think he will have a hard time making the starting line-up. Maybe in the team, or possibly in the Academy side. Hopefully get some reward for two years of solid play.Loosies, as always, very competitive, and I am sure there is a number of other strong contenders.

    @Blou Trein:

    @Stier:

@Blou Trein: I thought Altmann Allers named Boishaai the “Blou Trein” because that’s the rail route the Boishaai players needed to follow to end up nearer to where he wanted them to be after they finished high school

the top 11 together with SACS are on most of the rankings (though in slightly different order), which shows that it becomes more difficult to determine the other 8 teams in the top 20 and hence where the subjectivity / formulae used have more of an impact

@Kattes-Strofes: just a question…is Shaun D captain of Brakkies? I thought he will be a strong prospect come this year but haven’t heard much other than they doing well.

@Stier: Jip! My 2 northern suburbs teams is at no,s 19 and 20. However, some tough fixtures coming up for both schools, starting this weekend, when Brakkies face a strong SACS.
The Blue Train is back to it,s rightfull position. One cannot dispose of a king unless you defeat him.

Things are starting to look more accurate in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind if it stays this way but there is no chance of that happening. Beet every week it’s going to take you longer to post this as anybody seems to be able to beat anybody this year. I think the top ten will probable stay in the top ten till the end of the season. I think Helpies, Waterkloof and SACS are the most likely teams that can still jump to the top ten. Kattes, Brakkies is still going strong….. :-D
