KHS’s “Best of the West” fixtures & results
Spare a thought for the organisers of Krugersdorp High School’s Best of the West Easter Festival. Several school have withdrawn at the last minute. But the show must go on!
From the organisers:
This year’s Easter Festival has been one of the hardest logistically in its 12 years of existent. In a matter of a week leading up to our kick-off on Thursday we have had HS Merensky, Welkom Gimnasium and today (31/03/2015) HS Florida withdraw from the Festival due to governing bodies and injuries etc… This has put us in a tough position when it comes to fixtures and being able to communicate with you and our supporters…

Tristan Dixon of Kearsney has been named as Player of the Tournament and captain of the Pukke Skouspel All-Stars Team for 2015.
The team includes SA Schools player Edmund Rheeder from Klerksdorp and Potch Gim’s big 118kg flank Gerhard Steenekamp, who as an u17 player last year represented the Leopards u19 team in the junior Currie Cup.…

KZNRU inefficiency results in 1st XV player being sidelined
Frustration is the best way to describe this situation.
A Westville under-17 frontrow rugby player was prevented from starting the under-19 1st XV match against Maritzburg College because his SARU age banding “paperwork” (often incorrectly referred to as Boksmart) was not in order. Westville Boys High School was not at fault here. The problem was/is Archie Shelakho, a referee based at the Rugby Unions headquarters at Kings Park who is responsible for signing off the “paperwork”.…

College beats Westville 13-0 – match report
Maritzburg College put in a surprisingly refreshing running rugby performance and deserved more out of the match than the 13-0 win they achieved against hosts Westville.
The match got off to a very unsettling start for Westville. The referee, fully within his rights, would not allow standout under-17 hooker Hendrik Prinsloo who forms part of a very powerful Griffons frontrow combination to take his place on the field in the under-19 game due to the player not being Boksmart compliant. …

Maritzburg College scouts asked to leave Glenwood u13 festival
Friday, 27 March. Glenwood made a bold stand to protect their financial investment and related marketing benefits by asking two Maritzburg College staff members to leave the Glenwood premises where the under-13 festival is taking place. The two College officials, did not breach any rules or conduct themselves in an unacceptable manner during almost an hour at the ground before they were ejected. A Northwood rugby official was however allowed to stay.…

Bishops squad to take on 2 of EP’s finest
Bishops has an extended stay over in Grahamstown this year. The Cape Town based school normally travels to the City of Saints every other year to compete in inter-schools against St Andrew’s College.
