Jeppe’s Matric Dance Mix-Up Moves Match Forward

Jeppe High School for Boys has been forced to adjust their fixture list due to a classic calendar clash. Their 1st XV match against the in-form, unbeaten Westville, originally scheduled for Saturday, will now take place a day earlier — kicking off at 13h30 on Friday, 25 May 2025, on Bowden’s Field in Durban.

The unexpected reschedule comes after it emerged that the team would otherwise have to make the 600km journey back to Johannesburg on the same day as their matric dance — a logistical nightmare for any high schooler juggling sport and social life.

Fortunately, with both schools in agreement, the change has been made in good spirit. It sets up a highly anticipated Friday afternoon clash between two proud rugby institutions, with underdogs Jeppe keen to make a statement against a Westville outfit enjoying a dream run in 2025 under new head coach Zander Erasmus.

No all rugby games were cancelled ….. think we had a bit of a chance in the juniors this year but it would have been a long day in the opens but I think the buses are already back in Joburg….. but I hear this is the fixture list now for the foreseable future….. I truly miss the Saints schools we only play SJC these days …. hope with the Saints win over House that raises and reignites the love of Rugby in the Joburg North …. We need a few softer Saturdays in the season…. but ja you look up and think eish tough but the win against Grey has been culture defining for my old school …. so we need to rough it out with the big boys I guess

Eish…but perhaps it’s for the best, as Jeppe has an exceptionally tough fixture list this season, so an extra bit of rest is probably just what the doctor ordered! Are the other teams still playing on Saturday?

RAIN RAIN DO NOT GO AWAY

Waterlogged fields in Westville today no Friday Rugga unfortunately. This means
the kids can get ready for their Matric dance now a little earlier and with less aches and bruises…. Real pity Westville is an execellent school and phenomenal hosts…. I know this fixture and the Affies fixture ranks highest in the my list of favourites …. We will see you next year gents and again thank you for your understanding of the scheduling mishap the resulted in the need for Friday Rugga ….. Murphy’s Law probably tomorrow will be a beautiful autumn’s day with dry conditions 😃
