Who is in the school rugby coaching Millionaires Club anyway?

31 December, 2019 beet 8

A breaking news article about a fairly high profile school rugby coach having signed on the dotted line to head up the rugby programme of a rising Cape Town Northern suburbs high school, also brought into play a suggestion that the said coach was set to be the latest in his school aligned profession to earn in excess of R1 million per annum and therefore join an exclusive Millionaires’ Club.…

SA u19 team to play Georgia in December 2019

12 October, 2019 beet 39

There is a high percentage of SA Schools continuity in the South Africa under-19 team to tour Georgia where they will play Georgia Under-19 team on Monday, 2 December, and Thursday, 5 December 2019.

The tour will replace the Under-18 and Under-19 assessment camps usually hosted by the Junior Springbok coaching staff with an eye on the selection of the Junior Springbok squad for the World Rugby U20 Championship.

This is possibly the first time since 2007, when the u19 Junior World Championships were made away with, that SA players will be receiving u19 caps.

New Zealand national First XV Championship 2019 – schoolboy rugby

8 September, 2019 beet 0

Hastings Boys’ High School of the Hurricanes may have only finished in second place in their own regional (Super 8) round robin regular season and then been beaten in competition final but the wildcard like route proved good enough for them. When push came to shove they produced the perfect record and claimed the biggest price in New Zealand schoolboy rugby – the Barbarian Cup. Although controversial poachers St Kentigern’s were eliminated from the main title race by eventual boys’ school runners-up Kings College of Auckland, St Kent’s did go on to lift the Co-ed Cup in 2019.…

The 2019 Schoolboy Rugby Season

25 August, 2019 beet 225

Hi all

The 2019 regular season is past tense!

I thought for a change it would be nice to document the 50 or so most season defining events/matches/characters of 2019. It would therefore include results on the field and things that happened off it as well and can even extend to the comments made here by specific bloggers. I have attached the results that I recorded for 2019 in a PDF file to help the memory bank along.

If anyone is interested in making a contribution via comment or email (beet@schoolboyrugby.co.za) please do. I will blog the data below.…
