After co-ed Hoërskool Upington withdrew from their scheduled interschools day against Outeniqua in George, set for 27 July 2024, it was rumoured that making the trip would have cost Upington a hefty ONE BAR (R1 million).
On the same weekend, fellow Upington school Duineveld traveled to the Northern suburbs of Cape Town to face Bellville. Each Duineveld student making the 1,600 km round trip contributed R1,200 towards travel costs, while the school chipped in with the R800,000 balance. Great stuff!
