Thank you very much for the feedback. Of course rankings is always going to be very challenging when you comparing very different playing fields. So that is why I introduced the difficulty faced element to the ranking methodology. Of course it should reflect a much more accurate picture towards the end of this year as it was the first year I introduced it.

From the very quick eye test, the page has been done excellently. I love also the opponent difficulty rankings on the sight.

@Bloktrui, maybe another site to add to the “Ranking the Rankers” list?

They didn’t lose. They beat Oakdale’s second team by 1 point. Granted, it’s still a massive step-up to the big boys.

Bear in mind that Charlie Hofmeyr 1st XV lost to Oakdale 2nd XV, so it’s very unlikely that they’d make the top 30 of the 1st XV rankings given that Oakdale 1st XV is at about 10.

maybe the previous year’s performance carries through on that ranking ? It would make sense …although I wouldn’t recommend using previous years’ as a barometer…Mind you, the “category” of school idea is there in all the rankings.

Ruggas’ rankings really throws up a few wildcards. Garsfontein might well be the 10th best team in SA in fact, but there is no basis to rank them there based on their current results. Same goes for Grey – on the eye, they seem to be the best team, but it is wild to have them ranked first when PRG is undefeated after playing all the big teams Grey has.

Absolutely!!Thanks to Beet for refining the system it makes even more sense now , rankings are like judging the “souttert tafel”by die skoolkermis..al die terte is lekker , but some are nicer than others ,depending on your taste! :)

Do we know where Charlie Hofmeyr is ranked on the other rankings (I think they are 24th and 25th on the rankings available on this site)? Would be interesting to know what weight the other rankings has placed on their unbeaten season for them not to be in the Top 30 overall.

This Consensus Ranking is the most accurate instrument. You gotta love it. Thank you to each of the individual rankings for building independent systems because they are all valid in different ways and crucially, they make the consensus more robust, and most accurate.
