Oakdale old boy takes full coaching control at Boland Landbou

In one of the quietest Winelands coaching handovers Schoeman du Preez (Oakdale 2005) has taken over the reins at Boland Landbou from multitasker Johan van Rooyen.

The emphatic 32-10 away win against Wynberg was enthusiastic Schoeman’s first match as new head coach. No doubt an excellent win and an excellent way to open his innings, especially seeing as there is growing pressure from the active Boland Landbou old boys’ community to see better results.

Schoeman was one of the coaches promoted to a role of more responsibility after the departure of u19A head coach Vlos Molnar to Diamantveld after a successful 2023 season. Schoeman already holds the  title of Head of Rugby. By profession he is a agricultural teacher with 13-years of experience under the belt.

Johan van Rooyen has his plate full. The S&C coach is busy completing his masters in Sports Science. He’s been balancing this career at BL with his coaching duties. On top of that his wife has just given birth and the family has a short-term plan to move to the USA.  So the reshuffle makes sense.
