Boland’s big guns ready to fire

There is top action in the Boland. Four of their best teams square off.
Hugenote of Wellington hosts HTS Drostdy of Worcester, while in Malmesburg, Swartland takes on Worcester Gymnasium.

The big Drostdy team back from Noord-Suid where they beat Noordvaal Cup premier league school Nelspruit, will be looking for another “W”.  If all goes to plan the Donkeys will play Worcester Gim, Hopefield and Swartland as well this season. Unfortunately there isn’t a match against Charlie Hoffmeyr since the Boland RU only requires schools to commit to a fixed minimum number of provincial interschools matches, meaning the top schools do not all play each other.

In spite of their excellent form at the Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival, where they once again played champagne rugby, the always enterprising Worcester Gim won’t be taking the Swartland challenge lightly. The team is oozing talent with the likes of mobile young prop Armaan Adendorff, highly rated loosie Waylan Pienaar, powerful wing Vuyolwethu Bavuma and flashy creative fullback Lorenzo Harmse in their midst. Like Hugenote, Swartland played at the Oakdale Rugby Week, putting in competitive performances against respectable opposition.
