Based on an idea that Tjoppa had hence the name, here is an attempt to rank teams based on strength vs strength. All other results are removed from the equation and only games against other strong rugby schools in 2013 are recorded. Admittedly even this process of deciding which teams should form part of the equation and which ones should not, is also very subjective.
The points system is win = 4 , draw = 2, loss = 0 and 1 bonus point to the losing team if the score difference is less than 10, otherwise the bonus goes to the winning team.
Below that are tables per region for KZN, the Eastern Cape, Noordvaal and Western Cape. Some of the regional team have been excluded from the Tjampions League calculation though.

@Ploegskaar: U/19’s will only start during CC tournament. But I heard 42 players practising/contracted. Hope he will get enough exposure as I know as Corniel Els (Freestate) is also signed. Pity. Will ask around.
Not an anti-GCB refugee just do not like Certain people’s attitude towards other schools and parents.
@Tjoppa: We agree on so many things that I will also be branded an anti-GCB refugee one of these days . On the topic of missing players, do you know what happened to Landbou boy Arno van Wyk in your BB structures this year? He played WP Academy (the real CW team) last year.
@BOG: Bietjie van albei
@Ploegskaar: As said before showed in Varsity cup a much better 12. Why oh why do they then play him a flyhalf two weeks later. Let me tell you some skindernuus. A tight head prop was sent back to Tuks because he was almost caught with steriods together with that junkie from Grey. Another tight head sent back because they are forced to play contracted player. Therefore the better player do not play. He is now on his way to Pumas I hear. Tuks one drop loosehead because Tuks contracted player must play. And you want to sent your talented boy to where?
@jakkie: Jy vang my onkant.
@PaarlBok: Said since last year that I would prefer to see him at 12 outside Goosen, with Serfontein at 13, Sergeal Petersen and Dries Swanepoel on the wings and Tim Swiel at 15. That backline would be able to run and tackle the shit out of most teams, but alas, not in this country, with the current coaching mindset.
@BOG: Is that not asking the blind to lead the blind? I am not that familiar with the proliferation of SBR players in SA, but he may be referring to Adriaanse, Sadie, Daniller and Daniller Junior in your current set-up. I am unfortunately not that clued up and don’t want to get caught in the middle of a pensioner fight with flying bedpans, dentures, and catheter tubes if possible.
@BOG: No Boggie. A SBR supporters dream weekend in PTown. 8H00 at LC de Villiers to watch Garsies and EG. Then I’ll be watching the Nu Power finals of the U/14 and 15’s. Hop over to Flamingo’s to watch the Gim Paul Roos game while putting down a couple of beers. Back in time for the HTS and Nellies final. Depending on what happens at Bloem and at Flamingo’s the evening, I might even watch the Grey Bloem game
@Woltrui: A blank “moment” ? How many years has this “moment” lasted? Just trying to help. I was offered a lift to Bloem by Tjoppa this weekend. Will you be traveling with him? If you send me a return ticket (From Faro,Albufeira) I shall accept the offer. The trip there should be interesting, but the return, I expect, very quite.
Pollard must play center. Varsity Cup proved this.
@PaarlBok: Yebo!!! Had a blank moment there. That’s right, we’ll keep Pollard, thank you so very much.
@Ploegskaar: Can I ask you a favour please. Take Paarlbok under your wings and give him a calculator. He actually even believes that there are more Gimmies in the Cheetah side than OGs. Just add for him the following: Strauss, Oosthuizen, Vermeulen, Labuschagne, Boom Prinsloo, Heinrich Brussouw, Frans Viljoen, Piet Van Zyl, Johan Goosen, Ebersohn—. I can expect, with the success of the Cheetahs, that everyone wants to point out their schools contribution to this success but please urge him to keep it real. While you at it, explain to him that there are also around 20 OGs in the playing structures of the BBs, the only other successful franchise, apart of course from the team doctor, and and 2 members of the coaching staff.
@PaarlBok: I did tell you that help is available for your condition, but it would appear that you require further detail. I challenge you to show me where I said that GCB should be “1”. I dont even regard ranking as important, but I participate in the discussions, purely for the fun of it. And what I did say, is that the season is still long. Secondly, you seem to fail absolutely and totally to grasp the fact that fixtures are determined a year or more in advance. I have no role in this and I am merely expressing an opinion as an OG. In fact, my common sense (which these days, does not seem all that common) tells me so. And your mind seems to have gone on a fantasy adventure. You are just assuming that Grey is avoiding Gim. Who says it is not the other way round? I would have been a wealthy man, had I received R1 for everytime Grey was accused of being “scared” Their winning ratio of 94% over an extended period, shows that they have absolutely no reason to “fear” others. However, as far as I am aware, they RESPECT ALL opposition. And allow me to repeat myself- AGAIN! Personally I would love to see an encounter between the two teams this year, but we can just hope for a miracle. Of course I would back GCB to win and in the unlikely event of this not happening, I would gladly lift my hat and congratulate Gim. If not, it will remain mere speculation. Ask someone to explain to you these basic concepts- they are quite simple, for most.
@BOG: Take a good look at the principle, Grey play against some weak teams and now you want them to be rank nr1. If they have played Paarl Gym, they sure would have deserved the nr1 ranking IF they could beat them. On current form that is highly doubtfull , so model of the story is blame your own lot for not playing against the top schools.
@Ploegskaar: He have Pollard and still beg for more. Cheetahs have all Bog=Grey men but at the moment there are probably more Gimmies running around in Cheetah jerseys.
@Woltrui: You have had a couple of Boland boys in light blue that won you cups over the years, one may actually have won a CC for the Vrystaat as well.
Can someone be so sensitive to the truth? I know that this is SA 2013, but lets try at least and take principled decisions. @PaarlBok: Its really not necessary for you to remain in your present condition- help is available to escape from that mental cage that you have built around yourself. Personally, I would love to see a clash between the two schools, but even my budgie knows that fixtures are determined years in advance. Perhaps, when Gym is consistently at a high standard, they can make it an annual fixture. Or perhaps then, you will insist on an “escape clause” for the years that they are not.
@Tjoppa: Ja please Beet, Bog =Grey Bloem wont get to rest if he isnt ranked 1 and we have to wait another 7 years before we’ll see another Paarl Gim vs Grey Bloem match.
@BOG: @beet: Can I please request that a list for the Free State and Noord Kaap also compiled separate. Then Grey Bloem will be on a ranking list @ no 1 en then maybe Bog will stop crying.
Oh yes, I did not even mention the schools in the Griqua region- Noordkaap, Diamantveld, Duineveld— all part of the “Central region” known as the Cheetahs. And perhaps some should take a glance at the Super 15 log standings, just to freshen up the deminishing and failing memories.
@BOG: Cause you are a one cow town.
@Woltrui: You can not even win the Vodacom Cup. How do you want to achieve the latter? No leave that no 10 alone. Send him to a small union and in five years time he will be on the lips of everybody. In Bulls camp he will end up with no contract nor any exposure after u/21. Forgotten. Still say the best flyhalf I have seen this year at SBR.
Tjampions league for tjamboons? Why is the FS excluded as if no rugby is played there? I notice that elsewhere, rugby franchises are combined, supposedly to appear more impressive while in the FS, they are completely ignored. Eg WP and Boland, Lions and BBs and Border and EP. Let me be blatantly honest, because this pisses me off. On a good day, schools like Sentraal, Jim Fouche, Louis Botha, Hentie Cilliers, Voortrekker and others could beat 60% of the schools listed in Gauteng, 70% in KZN, 80% in EC and 60 – 70% in WC. So sorry, this matter transcends just the “Tjampionships league”, but there is a misconception that only GCB plays rugby in the FS
@Ploegskaar: You are wearing us all down all of the time. If it wasn’t for Boland Landbou you would have been expelled long ago.
The Landbou boitjies must play like the Bulls Ploegie. Every ball they receive must be put into the corners. Ten man rugby. You got the pack and the 10. Must say I can see that ten in light blue, winning us a Currie Cup or three. 8)
@kcob: @Queenian: Yes only 38 schools were taken into account and the TL only measures results against these 38 and no other.
Hilton, St Albans who have decent results and Framesby, Louis Botha and Diamantveld who play against tough opposition should possibly be factored in as well but aren’t
Even better! Now we can see the teams having the balls to play the big boys. I thank you sir. Now must just think a way to get Affies to 1, Waterkloof 2, Boishaai 3 and Boland Landbou to 5. Sorry ploeg but must admit Paarl Gym not bad for 4.
Why only three games for KC beet? They have played about 14 now with one loss? Are you only measuring games vs teams whom fall into the table?
@beet: I see I am wearing you down today! No more SBR beer tents for you this year!
@beet: Beet i think if you look at these 38 this would make sense to me as the fairest ranking i have seen.
@beet: Why do you only have St Andrews as Played 3 far as i know they have played 7 games

But this based on games against GCB, Nico Malan, Kearsney, SACS, Wynberg, Glenwood and Noord-Kaap. Assume you don’t include Nico Malan?
@Gungets Tuft: Paarl Gim
Interesting
@beet: Shot, just makes the regional one look a bit better, for me anyway!
Who did Kearsney lose to. No losses regionally?
@Ploegskaar: It is done. The regional was an afterthought. The BL result was in the TL already.
@beet: Use it, don’t use it, but maybe include the Boland Landbou/Wynberg result in there as well
