@McCulleys Workshop: @Stier: The unions the schools & everyone in rugby are not responsible! Government needs to have built proper schools by now. The Trillions wasted on personal wealth should have been used on PDI schools. Proper schools with proper facilities like what Gary Kirsten has done but bigger scale.

@McCulleys Workshop: I agree, we should do much more to develop primary school rugby. Uitsig Primary in Centurion is a good example of what can be done to develop poc if done correctly. We are investing our time and money in the wrong place.

@sewes: I have no idea what you are talking about.

@Stier: From my perspective it’s a failure from the unions perspective. That talent pool is there, the facilities are there and only the surface is being scratched. We look far and wide when some of the development opportunity is in front of us, based on what you are suggesting.

@McCulleys Workshop: It’s not a failure, because nobody is doing it. Maybe in another 25 years we will realize quotas is bad for everybody and developing grass roots structures is the only locigal and sustainable way to improve our rugby and reach our potential.

@CharlesZA: They do have one or two new boys from Stellenberg but not enough to make such a big difference. We will see how they go against the other big schools. I don’t think Menlo is going to have the impact they did over the last two years. If you don’t have depth it’s not easy to stay consistent at a high level.

@boerboel: Last year the Menlo u/15 team beat PRG 52-7, this year PRG won 34-26. That is a big shift. One of the Menlo parents told me hockey is more popular with the kids than rugby at the moment. It wouldn’t surprise me, most primary schools in Pretoria have over 1000 children but most schools only cater for two rugby teams per grade. The kids have no choice if they don’t make the A or B team at primary school level they have to find something else. I saw this coming years ago and now the high schools are seeing the results of the primary school systems failure.

Deurlopend is daar net twee spanne per graad.

@Smallies: @PaarlBok: Looking at the decision of CSA to not have any quotas for the CWC is a good thing. A new poll have shown that 83% of South Africans don’t want quotas in sport. It is something that only the politicians want. Luckily schoolboy teams are still the one place where nobody use quotas and merit is the only measurement for selection. We need to develop all our kids at primary school level till that day we will never achieve real unity and/or transformation. Instead of hard work our politicians and administrators chose the lazy way out, quotas. Luckily very few school coaches and supporters still see color when they support or coach the kids.

    @knowthegame:
    MONNAS VS MENLO
    Wit Bulle 30 – 8
    Kwaggas 21-10
    Sables 48 10
    Wille honde 49 – 3
    Yskaswolwe 10 – 10
    O16A 31 – 24
    O16B 26 – 10
    O15A 5 – 12
    O15B 22 – 5
    O14A 19 – 15
    O14B 65 – 0

@BoschBoy: Some schools provide an indicator of age group as its on their Boksmart formatted document, so getting the rest a possible goal to work towards. It is useful to know.

Nice addition Beet, this is cool!

Probably a bit unlikely, but it’d also be interesting to see what grade the players are in too…to see the make up of teams (how many matrics/grade 11s are in, etc).
