Spare a thought for Michaelhouse today

After losing 36-5 to Glenwood and 42-12 to Hilton, it seemed like things could not get worse for Michaelhouse as far as first team rugby is concerned. Well it seemingly has. Between last weekend’s Midlands derby and a round of KZN regional trials and training, House has lost 7 1st XV players ahead of their away game at Kearsney today.

Captain Cian Grendon (KZN Academy 2012), centre/wing Bruce Arnott (KZN Schools) and Cameron Bird are amongst the senior players out along with backs Nicholas Glassock, Barrie Forester-Smith, Tyran Faber and Nicholas  Stembridge.

Several KZN schools are in action today. Glenwood have a mammoth task against HJS (Paarl Boys High) while the form book suggests that College should be too strong for Framesby. The Sharks Invitation team is made up boys from George Campbell, Northwood and Port Natal lost 40-3 to Oakdale at Wildeklawer this morning.

The MHS team looked completely out of sorts, and there was no co-hesion or sense of team rapport. The loose forwards seemed to be absent and the flyhalf play very poor. The only players who stood out were Schoeman at no4 and the hooker.

@beet: The Kearsney U16A team were quietly confident they are a much improved team this year and I felt they had the upper hand for most of the game.
