SBR Super Rugby Superbru week 2

cheetahs

Updated. Super Rugby kicks off in South Africa and New Zealand today. College Old Boy Slam will be hard pressed to hold onto his rather fortuitous lead once the real contenders get going this weekend in a compo that is all about skills and has zero to do with luck in spite of what everyone else and your own human logic tells you.

@beet: You should publish a list here of the refs and their affiliations. They are starting to play such significant roles in the outcome of matches, they are the future stars.

@Beet: I think the regional rankings need to be re-looked at. It seems like you are working on averages. On the face of it that seems fine, but you cannot say that the lone Cheetah at the top of the board is better than the domination of Sharks in the rest of the Top 10. Maybe you need to look at a points aggregate.

Seems like it’s going to be a weekend of upsets. The Red’s / Tah’s is also hanging in the balance – 17-17.

@HORSEFLY NO.1: I had awful back luck in that last game. The Blues surprised big time. Must say Retallick and the no. 6 from the Blues impressed me and so did Francis Sai’ili at 12

@GreenBlooded: Look when you make a good call in SB its technical knowledge being applied and when you get it wrong it’s a game of bad luck. There’s no inbetween :-D

Sipping my morning coffee and having a chuckle at those who had the gall to go against the Bulls in their opening match at Loftus. Almost got a BP on that call too.

But as the saying goes -pride cometh before a fall……….

The new TMO help phase for ref,s is very disruptive and the one bulls try was not conclusive so why did he give it.

    Bulls vs Stormers

    What a shocker

The Stormers were really disjointed the front row was pathetic and i hope they have some play but some how it stays the stormers weak point. Janjties was really poor they need another flyhalf quick. Everybody seems to rate Kisthoff dont know why going know were quickly every time he plays solid oppersite numbers he just folds. But i do beleive the Stormers have what it takes to step up so we will see.

The Bulls well they won so thats positive for the rest well they are going to have a long hard season they might bully a few teams and get a few wins but they are going no wear. They backline is shocking, Hougard is not a scrum and will never be, Steyn if you go by what Naas and the comentators say he,s back well i say he is crap do what he did last night against a on song NZ team and they will get murdered why kick everyball they got know advantage from it. Meisie kid and JJ well must be one of the weakest centre combo in Super Rugby and Zane at best is pathetic. (Shame and Jan Serfontein picked this as his future) Do not see them getting any better lucky the Western Force up next but then the drought will start.

And the line outs were a mess from both side. If this is the future of SA rugby we in trouble.

The one thing about Superbru is that games you would not have given a second thought about are now critical to your mental health. I have already pulled out so much hair I am starting to look like Gungets.

@GreenBlooded: Shafted by the useless, useless Rebels boxing an open tryline after the clock. A 5-pointer there and I was in. Ohhh well, mediocrity-r-me, mid table and doomed to stay there I fear.

@star: Hey – also got shafted by that try in the first game. Was considering cashing my chips there and then and sulking off into the sunset. But then I managed to share the bonus point with Horsey in the 2nd game so things looking up a bit.

Hope they don’t extend this pink outfit thing to Durban Refs – although at this stage any new kit will be welcome………

Boy am I a bad loser. Highlanders on attack looking good for a try, drop the ball and Williams scores against the run of play. Game over. I have a bad feeling for this year.

Final score Highlanders 27 Chiefs 41

Anybody thought the Chiefs would fade after last year will need to take note.

I use to watch Super 12 religiously. I remember there was a time when the Canes could not beat the Blues and the Tahs could not beat the Reds. I think both Blues and Reds had an 8-0 record each at one stage before their opponents finally won a game.

Please record this under FYUI – for your useless information :-D
