    With the early success of Westville in the pool and on the basketball court and cricket field, :lol: I think it is now time to turn to the rugby pitch. I believe that there is a practice match on Friday in PMB against MC. One of the problems for Westville is that there are 4 potential 1st team starters who are also in the 1st team cricket team and I am sure they would not want any unnecessary injuries before the T20 National Final on the 22nd. Also with regard to Griffon’s squad I think Martin should be in at lock with Prinsloo as blindside flank. I think Pieters is injured and so Wilks should be included on the wing. If not there then at inside centre where Anderson also stands a chance. As Engelsman says lots of depth. The 2ND team pack would be Jonty,Kennedy,Thomas,Jardine,Thambirain,Erasmus,Meilhon and Pentz. Maybe we should have a ranking for 2nd teams as that battle will also be facinating

    WBHS U16 side looking strong this year . Feedback from boys is that Norris is in a different leaugue as a coach and have welcomed U15 DRSU head coach Deon Nel , who has joined WBHS from port NAtal . If DRSU U15 boys are utilized in their favoured positions then defensively WBHS will be hard to breach . Also good distribution to backline will enable some talented boys to do some damage . Please can somebody comment on the new scrum laws that stipulate an uncontested engage in the scrum .

    @ Engelsman- our biggest problem this year was our defensive structures in the outside channels which accounted for several tries leaked against Grey College, 3 against MC and the critical try by Mvelase when MHS scored in the last move of the game.Unless we get this right we will flatter to deceive next year. Soft tries must not be tolerated and the boys must show commitment in that regard.

    Not sure of Khuzwayo where about”s Havent seen him at practice for 2 weeks. Another front row contender is Jonty, 3rds and 4th last year, high work rate and mobile. Lubbe may be looked at for 12 and Stephens played 2nds last year at 12. I see no Wilks in the list, good player, a natural 15 he played 2nds last year, scored a belter against Kearsney. Biggest positive is the depth we have this year………

    @Greenhopper, good letter by Kershaw but it still does not answer questions about bringing in boys in grade 11 and giving them positions of authority etc. This needs to be addressed publicly and the truth be told, otherwise there will always be suspicions of buying players etc

    @ Horsy : True, so maybe Martin could start with Weir / Prinsloo, But its just an opinion. I’m not the coach so I don’t know what the coach wants or who’s in his plans

    @Griffon:
    Talent speaks louder than size my man and guys like Nathan and Jordan have that talent. Also I think that this years grade 10 forwards aren’t much smaller than the grade 11 forwards whilst on the other side there’s quite a difference between the sizes of the backline players of the two grades…

    @ Horsy : yes meilan does tsand a chance, but i think he’s still nursing an injury. I think positions which would see 16A players from this year be included in the starting line up are in the backline. The forwards this year are a bit behind in size to last years 16 A’s

    @Griffon:
    I see you haven’t included any U16 players in that starting line-up. Think N.Meilhon is within a chance don’t you??

    @ Star : Good to see they’re practicing a lot, good, because they started their preseason late. I’m guessing there might be some holiday practice or gym, boys wanting to improve and get bigger

    @ Griffon- Mobility is important but you still need to hold up you end in the tight exchanges.A backrow going backwards can be quickly nullified.There is a practice today and tomorrow for the U16(2013) side so Norris is starting to ramp things up.( Highly rated by some of the boys I have spoken to)

    @ Star : The front row I put, is more mobile and explosive, which helps with playing a quick game. M.Jaclson is good but may need a bit more speed on him. Pents did play some rugby, but havnt really seen much of him.How are things on the u16 side ?

    @ Griffon- I think Matt Jackson has tipped the scales at 130kgs but must have trimmed down to a very workable 110-115kgs. At KERF this year he more than held his own against Grey and has been used as a strong ball carrier through the season.(A bit in the Marne mould).KZN should look to this type of player as I am tired of our front row being bullied by the GG(GAUTENG GORILLAS IN THE MIST-Sorry mine dust-AT).And the fact that he is the son of a WOB has not influenced my opinion :mrgreen: Also did Penz not play 3rds/4ths this year so is getting back into the swing of things.

    @ Beet: M.Larkins has been very injury prone the last 2 seasons, C.Thomas, might play seconds but I haven’t seen him play in a while. @ Star : I agree that both Khuzwayo and De la Ray play the same kind of game, but Pents hasn’t played a whole season. Thambiran could come into the mix, but I think Martin is prefered ahead of me. @ Beet : I heard they went well.

    @ Beet- Schlemmer has great vision and would make sure Westville played the game in the right part of the pitch.A very talented allround sporstman and modest to boot.(Must have got that from his mother :mrgreen: )

    @Griffon: Luke Schlemmer seems like a very talented all-round sportsman.

    No M Larkins in your squad. Did his baseball trial go well then?

    @Griffon- I think the balance of the backrow for Westville will have to be looked at. Khuzwayo is a ground player(bit like De la Ray) and Westville might look to the air and a bit of bulk.A guy like Penz might come into the frame.Westville like GW have plenty of depth and have 60% of the players back from 1st to 4ths.Also as Gungets reminds us of the all conquering U16s will add fuel to the debate.Maybe that is why GW did not want to play us next year. :wink:
