Hi There, anything on the DHS VS Glenwood Fizture next year?
@Anonymous: I couldn’t Agree more!:) Well said Mate!:)
@horsey
Correct.
@Rugbyismylife
Nothing is cut and dried at this point in time. i think there will be some changes from horsefly’s list. I dont like mentioning names on such a public forum when discussing expectations because the wrong thing said could be potentially damaging to a youngster’s confidence or self esteem. In general i think we’ll have a young pack with a lot to learn about rugby at 1st team level, but the youngsters it the age group can never be faulted for their dedication or enthusiasm.
What is your opinuon on DHS forwards for next year? I’d like to hear what u guys think
@Rugbyismylife:
Is doesn’t really matter anymore where he played. All that matters is where he plays now.
@anonymous
OK I understand. Am I correct in saying that the U15 team that you coached beat WBHS then and lost badly the next year?
@Anonymous: Seeing as you are involved in DHS,In your opinion how is the forwards looking for Next year? Any players people should look out for?
@Anonymous: okay well I don’t want 2 argue with u,just saying what I have seen over the years! I have especially followed Richard with Great interest! But if what u say is true then I accept I am wrong! But I remember seeing richard in the number 10 position!
@Beet
031-277-1500 ask for Mrs Vermaak and ask her. Otherwise I am sure she would appreciate an e-mail.
thx
@Anonymous: What is happening with DHS vs Glenwood in 2013. Cancelled fixtures rumours flying about
@rugbyismylife
you are being ridiculously stubborn about me being wrong.
Now listen very carefully i coached the u15 team that richard played in. I (ME) (yes me) selected Richard at prop that year.
I really don’t know what else to tell you. You claim to be an avid DHS supporter. You say you don’t know the boy in question personally but i do. I was also involved in that team and then you tell me I’m lying when i tell you where he played.
There was no need to play Thomas in the backline because we had Ngubane Innes and Williams as 10-12 so Richard was not in the backline. If you really are insistent on persuing this then please come to school and i will dig out the video footage that i have from that year and prove it to you. Otherwise I shall accept yout appology for insinuating that I am a.) an idiot who doesn’t remember the team he coached two years ago or b.) A liar. Either way i will expect your apology or your presence at shool on monday.
@horsy
I cannot comment on where i will be coaching as nothing has been finalised as of yet.
You’ve got it wrong I can Gaurantee u that!! He played prop and flyhalf in U15! Maybe he played in U14 as well bt he difinetly played flyhalf in U15!
@beet:
just a couple of conversations ive been part of have suggested this. all will be revealed in due course…
@Anonymous:
are you coaching next year and what team?
Oh, and further to that he only played one game at flyhalf in u14 against westville.
@rugbyismylife.
He was prop in under 15 as coach of that team i should know because I selected him. Thanks for your time and interest.
@Anonymous: he played flyhalf in U15 for a few Games not U14! He moved around in U15! He played the whole season at prop in U14! Maybe u need your facts straight before you comment mate!
@HORSEFLY NO.1:
“next years u16s will also be getting a couple of new players” – from where and how?
@Rugbyismylife.
Stop rattling on about “facts” until you have yours straight.
Richard played flyhalf u14 and tighthead prop u15. I’m afraid horsey was right in that regard.
Though i do agree with you that he is no longer an option at prop.
Oh I haven’t Heard anything about that! Would be Good 2 see some Big Boys coming into the 1st team setup!
@Rugbyismylife:
ok. i have hears that next years u14s will be every bit as good as this years bunch and that next years u16s will also be getting a couple of new players
There are no new Recruits as far as I know! I heard that The acting Principal is not allowing players being recruited over the age of 16! I know wilkinson has tried but not having any success so far!
I understand what u saying about the prop forward,But with a Knee injury as serious as Richards we cannot expose him 2 such a position as it makes him to vulnerable to further injuries!
@Rugbyismylife:
But isn’t running around like a mad-man where the role of a prop forward is going now? Gone are the days where props have to be these huge players who will just blow away everyone in the first half and go quiet in the 2nd after putting their all in the 1st.
Any new ‘recruits’?
@HORSEFLY NO.1: I know he struggled with a Knee Injury towards the end of the season! He obviously won’t be running like the likes of a Loose forward but he definitely Gets around the Park well!!
Richard can’t play prop with his Knee injury! And I doubt he will be Big enough for Prop at 1st team leveel!
@Rugbyismylife, thinking the Glenwood pack will be smaller than usual but the backs will be very quick. Maybe a completely different ball running type rugby required with this sort of players at hand…something DHS used to do in the early to mid 90’s with Wade Wingfield and co..
@Rugbyismylife:
Also, I didn’t watch all his games but the biggest game I watched was vs Glenwood. That game was played at a fast pace and I have to say he seemed to be struggling a bit with the pace of the game.
Why doesn’t Richard play at prob and then have someont like Rees or Kreedemann playing at loosie alongside Ngobese?
@Rugbyismylife:
Yes but his fatty levels will be exposed at 1st team level believe me. Game is sooo much more faster there,you miss so much by just blinking,ask me I know! Also,do you know if Wilkinson has recruited any boys for the new season??
@HORSEFLY NO.1: he Might Be a Bit overwieght but I can Gaurantee u he gets around that park!! I’ve watched all his Games this season and for his size he is very Mobile! His Ball skills are exceptionally God! And I’ve heard that he Has lost a minimum of 10Kg’s since the rugby season!
@Rugbyismylife:
although none of the Glenwood people will admit it they are going to be pretty big next year with what will apparently be a great backline with great pace.
RE bobo
is he not too fat to play in the 1st side next year? maybe a fitter, more mobile prop will do
How’s Glenwood 1st team looking Next year? Size wise? I Heard they have a very Fast Backline?
@Gungets Tuft:
and so did i, strange isnt it? :smile:
@Green Hopper:
i think we are going to be OK next year, the goods IMO will only start to be delivered in 2014. our u16A of 2011 were not good at all so i dont think 2013 will be the greatest of years.
I have No relation to Richard BTW! As far as I know he only has a sister who is primary school! I couldn’t Agree with u any more! DHS have been saying it for the Past few years! But with a new coach that is very motivated and determined 2 have success I think DHS could have a very Good season next year! That’s just my opinion I could be wrong!
@HORSEFLY NO.1: Have I missed something – I thought RIML was Richards boet. Sorry …
@Rugbyismylife: and how are they going to do that exactly , isnt tthat what we heard last year and year before that and they year before that ??
Stop now!! My sides are going to split if there is much more of this.
@GreenBlooded:
Lol. RIML obviously didn’t see what I argued about in the beginning and that is KZN colours, I simply said there will be too much competition for him to make KZN. Guys like Kay,Coetzee,Van der Heever,du preez twins,schramm,francis,de la rey, Goodson ALL looking to make it at loose forward.
@Gungets Tuft:
@GreenBlooded:
He has brothers??
@Gungets Tuft: You mean he has more than one? Lord help us.
@beet: If these DHS okes agree any harder there will be blood in the streets. I wonder what Richards older brother would have to say about all this.
We all are!! I believe DHS are going 2 Surprise many people next year!! Look Forward to the New season!!
@GreenBlooded: That is the funniest thing I have read in a while. I have tears in my eyes
@Rugbyismylife: Good to have a new DHS supporter on board and great to hear of a bit of depth maybe at School. I look forward to watching Thomas in action
@GreenBlooded: Well said Mate! My point exactly! You set up a Team list and then u go against Yourself! Maybe that counselling will do Mate!
Gents, I don’t mean to intrude on your lover’s tiff here, far be it from a Glenwood boy to get involved in a DHS bickering match – but looking at the teamsheet posted by Horsefly above, R Thomas (who RIML supports and Horsefly doesn’t) is listed as starting 8 and Kriedemann (who Horsey supports and RIML doesn’t) is listed at 16.
Am I missing something?
Only one Guy missing! The U16A prop from this year! Bobo!! Otherwise its spot on Mate! I think he is the missing Number 3!
@Rugbyismylife:
ok. since you seem to know so much please tell us how this squad on the top is looking or if theres anyone missing from it?
You quick to say that when u commented first on Richard not being Good enough!See u around Mate whoever u are! I Guess we will see in the near Future whether Richard is one of the Best or not!
@Rugbyismylife:
take a chill pill. this is a blog for opinions on rugby. i dont attack boys nevertheless what you think so take your blinkers off and get back to reality. ok?
Read up And u will see some Facts Mate! Maybe you should go for some counselling because it seems like you are having a Hard time accepting that you are wrong!
@Rugbyismylife:
you are clearly very passionate hey. but no, no personal stories here but it all doesnt matter because in the end its the coaches decision.
give me facts and i will accept them, but for now you are wasting your time
The last time Richard played prop was in U14!! He played Flyhalf and Flank in U15 and was playing 8th man in U16 Until is injury put him out for the season! U clearly have something against this young man and u busy making a Fool of Yourself! Best u forget about your little Vendeta and Accept the facts! Richard is Extremely talented and everyone will see him wearing the Number 8 Jersey of the Blue and Gold! And you certainly will be proven wrong by a long way!
@Rugbyismylife:
good. those are recently about as rare as water in a desert. did Richard not play prop like a year ago? because to say hes the best after only one year is brave! only one person whom i know whos pulled that is Kurt Webster, SA U16 and all…
i do Kriedemann has a lot more natural talent though, maybe not as big, but definitely more talented
@HORSEFLY NO.1: I am actually just a very loyal DHS supporter! I Matriculated in 09! I do not know Richard personally,I have been following Him since he was U14! Kreedamann is not a Bad player but not nearly of the same Quality As Richard! Richard is one of the Best Loose Forwards KZN and Kreedamann unfortunately doesn’t come close to that! With all Respect 2 Kreedamann he has a lot of work before he gets 2 that level!
@Rugbyismylife:
well, ok then. seems you are a bit personally attached to him. schoolmate or family member maybe?
i do think that U16 flanker Kreedamann is a much better fetcher and flanker overall though, maybe not too big but very good on the ground…
Richard is a Great Fetcher a Great leader!! He will sertainly be an asset 2 KZN rugby! He has been struggling with a knee problem bt he is working extremely Hard on Rehab!! He started off playing 2nd team this year but because of a Favouritism issue in my opinion! He later moved into the 1st side and Made a HUGE difference! I guess only time will tell But in my opinion the loose forwards of 2013 are going 2 have 2 work exceptionaly hard 2 out play this young man!
@Rugbyismylife:
Doubt he will make into KZN squads. Waaaay too much compo for the loose forwards berths this time around.but that’s justt my opinion!!
Hi. You might have to help us out a bit with more background info on Richard. He will have his work cut out for him if he wants to achieve his goal in 2013. The compo for the 4 KZN Schools loose-forward berths will be tough. Word is that Daniel du Preez the SA Sch lock is shifting to the backrow, where along with his brother JL will be favourites to retain the KZN Schools status they have held for 2 years now. So there will possibly be a place for an openside flank and a versatile loose-forward in the 22-player squad, with many good players to choose from.
Richard Thomas is looking to be a big part of DHS leadership in the 1st side next year!! Great player he is an 8th man,very Motivated and is looking for KZN colours next year! What do u guys think?
@beet:
Yes a new head of rugby hasn’t been announced but Wilkinson is definitely the head coach next year no qualms about that…
@Green Hopper: They have not yet officially announced the Head of Rugby. It seems like everything hangs in the balance because of this including whether or not Wilkinson will be in charge of the 1st team.
how is the new coaching structure here
lots need s to be done
@Umtata:
He is in matric this year… Don’t worry,the no.4 lock D.Mare is much better and much more useful,looking at KZN cloours for him next year…
@All Black:
Christo Wilkinson will be the head coach.
@HORSEFLY NO.1: Who is the coach?
@Umtata: He is at DHS now but will not be in their team in 2013. This year he did play prop on a few occasions. DHS had a few options at prop when all were fit so I think that’s why he was shifted to the 2nd row. They also had an athletic flank to be their 2nd lineout option.
@HORSEFLY NO.1: Why don’t they convert the 130kg lock into a tighthead?
@Grasshopper:
Its just that you learn and hear more when you keep quiet and listen to those who know which is why I now know a bit about them. Also, DHS have not bought anyone for 2013 that I’m aware of,maybe its top secret
Yes the 130 kg lock wasn’t as good as hoped but I wasn’t talking about him, talking about next years locks,one of which IMO is in line for KZN colours of he plays to his potential(he was the lock partner of one of the Doops at DPHS so would be good to see them together again). I would rather have a 2.03m lock that will take all his ball,steal ball in the lineouts and do his job in the defence.just my opinion…
@beet:
Pretty hard for me to select one as I’m getting the message that their still training as a 40 man squad so at the moment it could be anything bu here goes:
1)K.Philaretou
2)M.Drew
3)???
4)D.Mare
5)W.Kotze
6)E.Ngobese
7)A.Tshutsha
8)R.Thomas
9)R.Killian
10)K.Webster
11)S.Biyela
12)B.Buthelezi
13)N.Ngubane
14)P.Hlongwa??
15)M.Peter
D.Kreidemann
D.Roberts
K.Keogh
K.Ngid
N.Shangase
P.Rees
M.Tembee
Not a flashy side full of ‘stars’ but I think that with the pace In the backline and a new coach, good things could happen next year…
@HORSEFLY NO.1: Please email me the DHS squad as you see it: beetb@telkomsa.net
