@Oakdale supporter: The Garsies vs Kempies match was just a practice run. No score-keeping and no kicks.

    http://www.affiesrugby.co.za/blog

So chom moet asb nou nie soos sommige ex bloggers raak nie.

    Couchmavin…u16 Menlo 37-25 Transvalia

Sewes…kry regte opponente chom voor jy by heining kom staan.

@beet: Luckily Monnas has a bye this weekend but will not be able to reschedule. Itcwill be difficult to reschedule and play in the week and tgen on the Saterday again. Especially if there are travelling involved.

The Tuks is so small now, 3 groups consist of just 3 teams. I guess schools in those groups can afford to postpone matches to later dates if need be.

Rain, muddy fields and poor conditions are going to be n huge factor for rugby this weekend. May even cause an upset or 2 in Noordvaal. Many rugby fields already flooded in JHB and more rain has started to fall. Few games in the Westrand was already cancelled last week.

@Vleis: Prestige College heavy into identifying athletic talent from disadvantaged areas and then providing financial as well as appliance based bursaries. Focussing only on high performance and seems to have a fair turnaround of scholars. Brilliant concept for those surviving their system. Hope the post school support is sufficient. (Or in place at all), otherwise dreams are lost as well as benefit to country.

@Hooit: OK thanks. The web said Hammanskraal, just North of Pretoria, which is why I was surprised that I had not come across them. However, if they focus on athletics and are in Rustenburg then that explains it.

@Vleis: They a school in Rustenburg. They specialise in athletics I think. Exceptional in hurdles and track. Very new school. Some kind of connection with the Goldmine/ Tribal Chief in the area? Not too sure. The Monnas u/19 sprinter who is breaking the sprint records also comes from them.

@Hooit: Excuse my ignorance, but who is Prestige College? It seems like they are very strong at athletics; however, my son went to school in Pretoria for five years but never competed against them in anything. Maybe they don’t participate in the sports that he played: rugby, cricket and football?

@Proud OD: The Myschool ranking concept is an interesting one and definitely the more human subjectivity that can be removed from the equation the better but the formula still needs improvement IMO. I don’t say the rankings need to look like everyone else’s for validation but there are a few schools that knowing their relative strength first hand, look like they are out of possie. That was going by the 2016 model.

Agreed on what you say about the Top 200. Nevertheless it will be interesting to see what it looks like come September.

We could all rank a top 200, but truthfully the further away from the top the less likely one is of being accurate. Watch out for the My Schools Rugby SA Rankings this year, they use science to get to the outcome.

Should be cracker if anything of last year u16 is to go by.
See Garsies lost only to Menlo, Monnas and Florida.
Kempies lost to Monnas and Transvalia in pool, and went on to beat Pietersburg, HTS Middelburg and Nelspruit.

@Oakdale supporter: Thanks I just read that article at about 13h30 as well.

Interesting player movements mentioned in that article. New players in, players returning after spells at other schools and key u19 players lost. Will be interesting to how the 1st XV fares under new head coach Johan against stiff compo. All-in-all exciting times ahead for NV rugby supporters.
