SA Schools Cricket rankings

The website www.saschoolsports.co.za bravely compiles an SA schools cricket ranking on a regular basis nowadays. Hats off to them for making the effort. It’s a huge undertaking considering that school cricket is being played in at least 3 different formats and at all times of the week. Anyway their rankings make for some interesting reading. I can’t help but feel that there are school cricket followers out there who will use this list for target practice though. Surprisingly rain is not the top ranked KZN school.

Jeppe Boys are surely in the top 30? Besides a proud cricketing tradition, the school competes against, and beats, many of the schools on the above list. I mean, their 1sts beat KES this weekend by 50 runs.

This is a pile of horse….raddish! No way can a cricket ranking be determined as there are even more factors than rugby. Firstly the sides are completely different from term 1 to term 4 due to matric exams, the teams play even less of a round robin basis than rugby. KES smashed everyone at Michaelmas but had a mediocre 1st term. They are certainly above Glenwood and DHS having dispatched both by 10 wkts and 8 wkts respectively. Let’s stick to trying to get a decent rugby ranking first..

@Andre T: Monnas should rather concentrate on rebuilding the reputation they destroyed this year…

I would have to print this on nice soft, fluffy double ply if I wanted to use it appropriately.

    surpised College at 26

also last year I think or the year before St Charles 1st beat Glenwood so St Charles are slowly clawing their way back to being a 1st tier sport school – good for them
