Sergeal Petersen wins Craven Week Player of the Tournament 2012 award

SA Schools wing Sergeal Petersen of Grey High School in Port Elizabeth is the Craven Week Player of the Tournament for 2012. Petersen was the best player in the unbeaten Eastern Province under-18 team at Craven Week this year.

Petersen was also in very impressive form for the SA Schools team during their under-18 international quadrangular series against England, France and Wales.  He scored tries in all three matches which the SA Schools won to secure first place.

Although Petersen only stands 1.72 metres tall, he has tree trunk sized legs, making him extremely strong on his feet. The speed merchant has a personal best time of 10.35 seconds for the 100 metres. When combining his low centre of gravity with the big legs and the insane speed, it produces one heck of a potent attacking rugby player. Not to forget, he also has good footwork and decent ball handling skills as well. And a quite bit of history as a promising player behind him. Petersen represented EP at the under-13 Craven Week in 2007 and at the under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2010.

Earlier this year the EP Kings were delighted to announce that they had signed him on a 3-year deal commencing in 2013. Former Bok and Kings representative Robbie Kempson had this to say, “Sergeal is a very classy player with great vision and electric pace. He can step off both feet and is already a very rare talent…”

@BOG: Saying Peyper is the best ref by a mile is stretching your allegiance to Grey College a little too far!!

@BOG: I thought it was FACT that Craig Joubert is the best. The RotY award goes to a deserving SA referee generally doesn’t it?

@BoishaaiPa: Those comments regarding Peyper, are “overrated”! The best ref by a mile! Are you seeking favour with the predominantly last outpost commentators here by saying Craig Joubert is the best ref? Then, by the same standards, you probably rate Bryce Lawrence as well!

Now I’ve heard it all, Craig Joubert, best ref.

    WTF 1000 times.

He cost France the RWC and his claim to fame for 2012 is the promotion/relegation game.

No wonder some people left the Eastern Cape…..jeepers…….I can’t handle ignorance.

I think the Sharks have some dedicated online voters

The video of Bryan Habana’s award winning try was useless. At the crucial moment it pans out and the onscreen sponsor’s logo is in the way. Can’t believe that did not use a different angle for that one.

@BoishaaiPa: Agreed on the u/20 side and Toetie, but how Quentin Immelman was overlooked for ref of the year boggles the mind.

Two- Plum coach OTY?..double WTF!..what did he win?..Toetie’s team was top of SA Log in S15, semi-finalists in S15 and CC Champs…

Three- Toilet Peyper ref OTY?..Tripple WTF?…Craig Joubert miles ahead of him!
