@LAEVELDER: Ek is net so bekommerd oor die junior spanne.

@Barry: So the only negative is possibly a slightly weaker Springbok team and maybe some impacts in the super 18 teams. No real negatives to the players – as long as they get opportunities elsewhere. Positives are that more young players can start moving through the ranks and more players enter the system and get opportunities. Some dead wood may be removed earlier. It may also stimulate interest at a junior level due to more opportunities, earlier. So, let the boys (and girls) utilise their talents where they are welcome. The 50% PD “system” by 2019 is called “positive discrimination” (sic).

Eyes are opening. When I said this 3 yrs ago, I was laughed at. As the ZAR falls (collapses), so the lure of foreign packages increases. This is Africa-Welcome. And wait until SA reaches junk status. Then you will see what happens to the Rand. It will cost you as much in Rands to travel to the airport, as it costs you now to fly to Europe.

@Barry: They are already at the Easter festivals. My mate’s son was approached by an Italian club at KES last year.

It is almost time for the various Easter tournaments to take place and I was browsing through the different snippets of rugby news available. It is frightening to see the number and quality of professional rugby players we are going to loosing at the end of just this super rugby season to overseas clubs. It is as if the numbers are increasing exponentially each year.

It would not surprise at all if we are going to find international youth scouts at Easter Tournaments as not all the good rugby players necessarily make it to Craven Week rugby. Maybe the scouts are already attending these weeks, I don’t really know?

I also see Japan are making Lappies (Frans Ludeke) sign a contract in which he undertakes not to play super rugby for so long as he is contracted to play in Japan. So we can thus predict what is going to happen next.

Is sad, because we are loosing talent and are hands are tied. And actually nobody seems to be to concerned about it at S.A. Rugby. We cannot keep our best players in S.A. to play super rugby due to the currency and what we offer players.

Jaco Kriel is heading for the same club as Lappies and is taking Lionel Maphoe with him. I have calculated that about 9 seniors are leaving us at the end of the super rugby season and we are only at week 4 with plenty of player contracts that are still up for grabs.

Our young boys are going to be seriously recruited by international clubs because they are cheaper, and can easy be taken up in their Academies and structures. I’m really concerned. S.A. Rugby will not be winning super rugby titles any time soon, nor other international competitions.

Maybe I’m just stupid, but I’m concerned cause RUGBY is my passion.
