Grey College draft fixture list for 2016

To a large extent it will be business as usual for Grey College in 2016. They’ll again go head to head with a good few of the rugby schools challenging for SA Top 10 spots next season. There are however two interesting changes on the fixture list of the Boys in Blue. Firstly no high profile Easter Rugby Festival in 2016. An early Easter has persuaded Grey to embark on a tour of the Eastern Cape instead and they are set to add huge interest to the Union Festival in Graaff Reinet. Secondly there’s the possible surprising inclusion in the Shimla-Liga, a competition consisting of schools from Bloemfontein, the Griffons and the Griquas.

@BuffelsCM: @CharlesZA: Sal malligheid wees. Stellenberg moet leer uit die foute van Garsies en Menlo 2015

@BOG:    @ JJ

Just to be clear, the politics issue was with Dale – that’s the only thing I know to be fact. And the issue was not the school refusing, but it was the parents that had put pressure on GCB to stop the fixture – main reason being that they were not willing to host boys of colour. The QC matter was speculation on my part (Dale and QC’s demographics were pretty much identical back then), and I think Rugbyfan or someone else on the blog confirmed that it may have been an issue, but it was not the main reason – he listed scorelines and number of teams as some of the reasons.

I have noticed the question mark…. Wednesday 23 March against Stellenberg.

As far as I know Stellenberg wil play Menlopark on Saturday 19 March and Kempton Park on Tuesday 22 March at the Noord-Suid tournament in Pretoria.
Surely it will not be wise to play Grey on the 23rd March ??

@Knight_CHS07: You tell me. Im further away from Bloem than what you are@Playa: And numbers is no longer an obstacle. Simply involve more schools to make up the numbers- Hanklip and God forbid, JJ. You mentioned before that “politics” could be a hurdle. I dont think so because the hockey and cricket contact, has continued uninterrupted.

Interesting to see GCB going to the Union HS festival. It would be nice to see the fixture list for that festival as well.

@BOG: The Graeme Rugby Day fixture is not included as a TBA fixture, is that because GCB are contemplating attending? Or is the fixture not include because this a draft list?
