Affies 1st XV rugby fixtures for 2016

The www.Affiesrugby.co.za has put up a detailed list of the Affies rugby fixtures for 2016 here: http://www.affiesrugby.co.za/2016-bepalings.html

It goes without saying that it will be another year of tough matches, with the possibility of a Grand Slam year (Boishaai, Gimmies, Grey College, Monnas and Paul Roos) still on the cards, since St John’s and Wildeklawer fixtures are still to be finalised.

@Cappie @Oorkant Loftus What are your thoughts on the Affies 2016 team? I have heard some rumours that they will be an excellent bunch. Is my information correct?

@PaarlBok: Stem volkome saam. Afstand bly egter ‘n probleem.

@Rugger fan: Yes, the homeside is mentioned first in the schedule above. Affes plays Westville, KES, Jeppe, Waterkloof and Maritzburg away. They play Helpmekaar, Diamantveld, Grey, Glenwood and PBHS at the “plaas” and they have five fixtures on mutual grounds.

@CharlesZA: You can visit the link above for the full preliminary schedule of all teams. Not all the interschools have 30 teams, and additional games are organised during the year to fill the gaps.

@CharlesZA: All other A, B, C and D teams are also playing in festivals. Only E and F teams and 5th to 10th teams play only 10 games. If not mistaken the 5th and 6th open teams may also be involved in some or other tour.

@Cappie: OK, so it was the usual storm in a tea cup reaction from a few individuals, rather than a blanket opinion from the school. The posts last year were quite insulting really…

@Grasshopper: The arguments were only individual opinions and had nothing to do with the actual relationship between the schools. I did mentioned in my comments during that time that the interschools with Glenwood will stay, as officially the two schools have too much to offer one another on the sporting field, and that isolated incidents should not prohibit competition between them.

I hope that this interschools will continue to grow in future.

I thought the Glenwood fixture was going to be cancelled due to arguments on and off the field this year…

It looks very similar to this year, with the exception that the Menlo clash has now been replaced with the Diamantveld clash.

Hopefully they will play Boishaai and Paul Roos in the St Johnn’s festival and Paarl Gim and Monnas at Wildeklaver.
