Rugby World Cup 2015 – All Blacks almost as old as the Boks

SuperBru Pool Code for SchoolboyRugbyBlog: swadawed

Worth checking out – the Mr Price Sport Superbru : https://www.superbru.com/rwcpredictor/pool_landing.php?p=11462383

The All Blacks starting XV against Argentina was on average only 8.33 days per player younger than the Springboks starting XV against Japan and contained a significantly higher number of caps. Also worth noting is that although the All Blacks had 6 players comfortably over the age of 30 in their run on team, the Boks had no fewer than 10 over 30 veterans.

Technology I say….it was meant to take the human error out of the equation….cant for the life of me think they dont want to refer these incidents if unclear. Its there, in tact, use it. Is it not what sports about competing within the laws and not taking away what would have been a dream for others.
NFL they rather take time making the right decision than depriving a team of a win.
Acknowledgement of such an error could surely have financial implecations!

@Playa: Agree with your view on Craig Joubert. I detest inconsistency and poor performance, but this was not the case with Craig on the day. I think he generally performed very well. Must say, I am glad to not have been in that situation: Few minutes to go, awarding a penalty with the knowledge it will swing the result (if kicked over). Do you double check or not (video ref)? My first impression was also that a penalty is in order (lounging on the couch with beer in hand).

@Queenian: All Blacks by 13; Argentina by 5

I think the world has been unfair to Craig Joubert. He made an honest error…very easy for people to judge him based on them having the benefit of replays. He was sure he made the right decision. He was wrong. He is human, and the nature of sport is that there will always be a human element – that’s the beauty of it.

@Queenian…your startegy might work choosing between brands of beer as appose to time of day….but i think if that has been your strategy has brought you this far good on you. But specially in these knock-out games, there is way more to it….maybe something to considder….try stroking a wild animal in a corner

@Playa: @burra: Only way to do these predictions is don’t make any calls using your heart make calls on actual. Like the chance of the Bokke being in the final ( although might heart wants that ) is very slim.

Look at the teams take the 15 players and see how many you would pick as a joint team the one that has more 90% of the time will be the winner. Like take the boks vs AB without using your heart at least 10 of the 15 would be AB players so the chance is they will win.

Good win for the Boks last night (…….eventually!). Their inability to absorb limited defensive pressure in the first half is concerning. This was fully exposed during the Japan game. On the attack they are also too used to traditional Blue Bull = bashing rugby (sorry to my blue mates) and fast hands are not part of muscle memory to many of the players. I believe they all have the ability to play like Aussies and All Blacks and hopefully it kicks in soon enough. I do see they are mixing up contact and gap running as well as alternating the pace of the game. Tactical kicking was once again poor.
Heyneke – please just leave the Du Plessis brothers out of the mix. I hear absolutely no support for Jannie from any quarter and just about everybody wants other no 3’s in the squad and on the bench. Good to see players with little game time doing well last night – Page, Du Toit & Steyn. Good for confidence.
It is quite comical that the Georgians play rugby in a similar vein to their looks.

Didn’t like the SA v Japan result, but I liked the way Japan achieved it. Good to see the return of the clean, low tackle. It proved the old adage: “the bigger they are the harder they fall” and we didn’t know what hit us!
