@GreenBlooded: Morning, I don’t think there are haters of Glenwood. The standard man is tired of the schools horse s___
I think Glenwood is a great school, the school has produced great men. But (my view and this is a debatable blog) I think Glenwood has lost the plot, the potential that school has is unbelievable. I would love to be a coach of a D or F side at Glenwood at any sport. Can you imagine having a bunch of raw talent and making them winners!!!! And that’s the potential Glenwood has, it’s sitting right there. What was that saying the Japanese General said after bombing Pearl Harbour ” We have woken a sleeping giant” Have a good week-end.

What surprises me about the Top School ranking is that a school like Clifton can come out so high up the list. Well done to them – but the gut says not true?

Or perhaps I’m just a SBR traditionalist that puts too much weight on the top 2 school sports?

@Ploegskaar: Ploegie – do you have the Boland Landbou home fixtures for the year? I want to plan a trip out to the farm…hopefully for one against one of the Winelanders…but I am willing to settle for one against one of the Southern Suburbs giants.

Th@Ploegskaar: Thanks. Can’t wait for tomorrow as the season proper gets under way. Whilst the focus is correctly on the 1st team performance’s, is always interesting to see the strength coming through the age group ranks. I predict it’s going to be a cracker of a season.

@sparkie: Paarl Gym u14 & u16 Festival fixtures were posted on this blog under Festivals on the 12th of February. Most schools have received their 1st day fixtures for the Boishaai u15 Festival, I know Boland play Menlo first up, so sure Beet can cajole the rest from his intimate Boishaai buddies. Kwaggas Junior Festival fixtures must likewise also be available, as I know Boland play Eldoraine. Beet is cosy with the Kwaggas as well, but has clearly been a bit slapgat and really let himself down this year

    @BoishaaiPa:

I didn’t publish it. saschoolsports.co.za did. Truth be told – I didn’t even read the article. Just posted it here to get the haters going. Things have been boring as all hell here for a few months.

Hats off not easy to arrange tournament with all other festivals going on. At least Glenwood post fixtures and people know what’s going on. Still waiting for Paarl u 15 and u 16 as well as Jeppe u16 teams participating let alone day one fixtures.Three weeks away, and no news.

@Grasshopper: Is Glenwood playing their second team against Jeppe, or is Jeppe also sending their second team to the tourney?

@GreenBlooded: How can you possibly believe that stats if only 4 sports have been taken into account?..Some schools don’t even play waterpolo…what about big sports like athletics, tennis, swimming etc…very bad example to publish such a statement!

@chopper: Too be fair, the teams attending are 2nd tier schools from their own area’s hence Glenwood 2nd’s playing in the tourno, better match ups.

Very weird that Glenwood host a 1st XV Festival but don’t attend themselves – a case of as “subtle” recruiting opportunities it would seem? Maybe they are tired of road shows outside the Affies gates?

Glenwood vs Jeppe at under14a level will be interesting as I am aware Jeppe have been ploughing hige amounts into upping their rugby in the past 3 years so it’s the battle of the best buyers..

2 problems with bringing Julius in.

    1) Everyone will think they are supporting KES with their red suits
    2) They’ll be kicked out before the tournament starts?

Fair comments – how would you suggest a change in the vibe?

having watched all the 7’s tournaments at Gwd I did always feel that something was missing – the continuity and music and organization was spot on – maybe the smallish crowds didn’t help

The Bizzsport festival is a very young rugby festival. I went to the 2013 and 2014 and find it a bit boring, their is no festival feeling . One can hope Glenwood will work hard to change the vibe.

Sounds great – as long as it does not clash with Kerf games

some unknown schools to us Kzn’ers – will be there if we can

also gives us the opportunity to savor the food from what has to be one of the best schools’ tuck shop in the land
