@Cappie: I appreciate the reply and looking forward to Affies being in the top 5 at least. I am certain if they showed the guts by which they stand for Affies could have upset Garsfontein (which I have no inside about accept they seem to have an excellent 2014 year). Even if it was just winning by one point! That would have seen them jump the rankings…Sadly the latest decision would be a dark cloud over them for future clashes between these two schools.
If such an encounter could be arranged…both teams would be motivated to proof a point. I would love to be able seeing that match.

@Flazg: It looks much worse than it really is. Affies do have one of their worse years ever, but all is not lost. They are within the top 5 in the all three the under age groups. The first team are in the top 20 in all the other schoolboy websites. They did have a slow start this year, but the team is starting to play together as a team now. I foreseen that they may also end up in the top 15 (maybe) in BHP ranking. They may end up in top 10 in some other rankings, provided they win their final three matches. They definitely will be a force again in future. Too much pride in the school to let go. Thanks for you interest.

I am a bit biased towards certain schools. Affies has a lot of tradition and pride. Over the years I really love those “Wit Bulle”. When I look up School Rugby results I always browse Affies first. I am sitting overseas and follow NZ school rugby as well. Those St Kents Boys surprises me. That school is a great example of being at the top…fallen (just about out of Tier 1 league) and now St Kents is a rugby school to be reckoned with. St Kentigern College will have a great future ahead. However I am totally shocked about Affies performances this year. I cannot recall I have ever seen Affies so low down the rankings. What happened? Where is the depth? Is Affies being forgotten due to the lack of competing, against other schools in the big School league? With the amount of High school in Pretoria itself I cannot help but wonder when Affies pulled out of Big League rugby that they are not seen and spoken off. The Directors / Beeld Cup were such a huge achievement and Affies absence seems to let Affies suffer at the end. Waterkloof, which is a young school, kept competing and is a force to reckon with. So is another Eldoraine. Let’s face it. If you want to be seen you play rugby for a known Champion school like Affies, Waterkloof ,Grey Colledge., Bishops, Maritzburg Colledge and Paarl Gim (few more big names). Blue Bull country is rugby and biltong. Playing in Affies, to one day pull that White Jersey over your head; is bigger than just the achievement itself. If my research is correct then Affies has half the team as youngsters. To be selected also means you are certainly top standard. What went wrong from last year to this year, Affies? Is Affies rugby future in doubt? This latest move of Affies vs Garsfontein…well it does not help? “Wit Bulle” where is the guts by which you go for? Loose and learn are tomorrows triumphing.
Maybe a local can provide more information about Affies? Is the ranking for Affies correct? 8-O

Glenwood have a very good side this year, but, definitely not no.5 in the country after losses to Waterkloof & Outeniqua. Glad to see Westville finally in the top 20 after an 11- 11 draw against Pietermaritzburg College.

@Cappie: It would not surprise me if Affies win all these games. One thing I have witnessed playing Affies over the years, they never give up – even this year, against Grey, they pushed them all the way.

    I hope they end well

Gaan inderdaad exciting wees

@Rugbyman: Geluk man.

Indien hulle teen of Maritzburg of Glenwood verloor, sal dit hulle swakste jaar in ‘n baie lang tydperk wees.

Wie claim Marcel vd Merwe – Boishaai of Grey?????

@BoishaaiPa: It would be good for all to see which teams the top 15 have played this here and which ranking the these schools where and with which games did they score the bonus points. Remember, Waterkloof played Affies very early in the season when Affies was still in the top 15, so this could also scew the view on what one will see.

@Grasshopper: Glenwood and Monnas are both there as they both have played a lot of schools ranked above top 30 and it is only bonus points that is keeping them in the top ten.

@Grasshopper: The difference on avg points between GW (5) and Outeniqua (15) is only 0.4. Over a spread of 10 games that equals only one extra win against a Cat 4 schoo!. That is actually how close the teams are in terms of strenghth and results. We all know that Team No 15 could most likely beat Team 5 or 4 on any given day, but the seasons results against all opposition is taken into account and on avg then GW has done better my small margin. The avg diff bewteen GW and Waterkloof is even smaller and would probably equate to a single win over any school!…Teams are very close as you can see, its the small things that seperate them!

Looks about spot on Top 50 to me, although I think genuinely Waterkloof are better than 11th & Outeniqua better than 15th, both have beaten Glenwood at 5.

I would never have thought I would see the day when Affies would be out of the top 5, never mind the top 10! To see them at 28 is strange – I am sure they will be back with a vengence next year
