2014 school rugby fixtures of Pretoria’s big guns

This is not the completed product but a useful first look at what the top Pretoria rugby schools Affies, Centurion, Eldoraigne, Garsfontein, Menlopark, Pretoria Boys High, St Alban’s and Waterkloof will have on their plates this season.

The city’s highlight game is one of the biggest and best derbies in South Africa and takes place on 12 April 2014. Yes it is none other than Affies versus Waterkloof!

Also look out for Garsfontein to build on their recent successes and Pretoria Boys High, who not opponent can ever afford to underestimate. Menlopark has been working hard on their rugby programme and their results may surprise a few SBR followers.

@BoishaaiPa: I did prefer Durbs to the Cape – when I was still at school. But I have grown up a little since then. Nothing more beautiful than Cape Town and surrounding areas on a nice summer evening.
But it will be nice if such North South tournament can take place someday in the future.

Ek sou graag meer wedstyde soos Grey College vs. Paarl Gim en Affies vs. Paarl Gim wou sien. Veral soos in 2013 toe al 3 spanne uitstekend was.

@Djou: Well if you prefer Durbs to The Western Cape we now know and its confirmed that your judgement is very suspect !!..It will help with future debates!

@Beet: Thanks. A good initiative. Hope it gets momentum.
But, why not a north-coastal tournament with the schools up north playing the Natal schools. Logistically it is closer – and Durbs is a better place than Cape Town

@Djou: It’s Pieter Rossouw behind a tournament sponsored by Barloworld who seem to be connected to Menlopark somehow. The idea was to get the top schools from W/Cape to play the best of Gauteng North. Good idea but struggling to get off the ground this year. Klofies provisional fixture list which I used still says they are playing Drostdy and calls it the Noord-suidtoernooi. However Drostdy are set to play at Pukke on 29/03-02/04 so something has to give.

You can be certain one of Waterkloof’s St Johns games will be against Boishaai. They usually meet each other at that easter festival.

@jakes: Thanks Jakes. I thought I was working with the best copy and paste tools in the business. Obviously not. :( :) I actually missed all 3 Centurion Tuks-Reeks fixtrues. Corrected now.

Hopefully I get the EG fixtures soon. Will be nice to get them up. Still checking my inbox since last week tho. :(

Lyk my die top Pretoria skole is deesdae maar lekker bang vir EG JAnsen  Hulle speel EG ook maar net as hul paaie kruis soos in Beeld en Nu power. Maar die Wit Bulle -ai ai…
