    @Andre T:
    Dit wil my voorkom Klersdorp se 0/15 doen goed die jaar.
    HTSM het hulle laasjaar goed gewen met die Super 16.

    @ROOIBUL: Jip 12 elk .

    Woensdagaand het hulle ook in die doodsnikke teen Kempton gaan druk om deur te skraap. KHS se o/15’s het Kempton 13 – 8 gewen.

    So ver ek weet het nog nie EG of Garstfontein al vanjaar teen Klerksdorp gespeel nie.

    Klerksdorp speel vanjaar die groot kanonne soos o.a nou die dag teen Grey Bloem. Hulle speel nie teen Mickey Muise nie.

    @ROOIBUL: No sure EG can meet Garsies in the QF. Probably Semi’s, if both go that far.

    @kobusdoep: Hi Kobus

    Will correct the heading. Unfortunately now many know this Cup simply as the NuPower.

    Under the Gauteng English Schools fixtures blog (http://blog.schoolboyrugby.co.za/?p=5893) under the fixtures menu there is a game KES vs Monnas on 06/08/2014. I know Jeppe had asked Monnas for a game this year but I’m not sure if anything was firmed up. Hopefully the Monnas fixtures will come thru on Mon and clear this up.

    Just a note. As far as I know Nu Power withdrew as a sponsor. This will only be known as the Tuks series. Roger is there still a fixture between Monnas and KES this year? Not showing on Monnas calender. Only a game vs Jeppe.

    @Grasshopper @Roger: No, not an Afrikaans only competition. The initial aim was to get the top rugby schools in the old Transvaal to participate in a competition. However, Affies and Waterkloof withdrew over the years. Any top school can apply and play in a promotion relegation match to participate the next year. It differs from the Beeld trophy where all the schools play in different regional leagues and the top schools advance to the quarters, semis, etc.

    @Grasshopper: No Hopper. Monnas, for example, has an Afr and English intake. Same with Marais Viljoen and a couple of other schools. :wink:

    School numbers determine if a school play Macro, big, etc.

    Seems an Afrikaans only cup, but looks very tough! All the sides there are pretty strong so every game is tough. Almost a Vaal Super16!

    and last question for all my boere friends out there – how does a school determine whether it is Makro, Big, small etc for Beeld trophy – pupil size or amount of rugby players?

    @beet: @jakes: thanks Guys – and I am guessing that the English “model C” schools, similar to the admin/beeld cup – have not elected/not applied as well – PBHS, KES, Jeppe etc

    @Beet: Waterkloof withdrew last year and Garsies took their place. Menlopark applied for participation in 2015 (when the first of their recruited group will be ready). Might have to play promotion relegation first, though.

    @ Roger- Affies use to participate, as a matter of fact, EG Jansen was the first team that were able to beat Affies 1st team in this competition. 2 or 3 years later Affies withdrew from this as well as the Beeld. Klofies withdrew from this competition last year. I do believe that Menlopark will be entering the Nu power Tuks in 2015 as the bottom end falls out, some big guns will enter. Their is a huge interest in this Nu power Tuks again.

    @Woltrui: I’m also thinking Monnas for the finals.

    I’m keen to see who the surprise package Noordvaal teams will be this season. Granted they are all good but which ones are going to be a cut above the rest. Will be interesting

    @Roger: Hi Rog. Affies and Kloof used to play in the competition. Affies withdrew in about 07? from all cup competitions and went more into the interschool set up. Kloof, I suspect felt they had to drop out of one competition because of the amount of rugby the kids must play annually. The top 16 Noord vaal teams (model C schools) originaly started the competition. There used to be a promotion relegation game as well were a school could challenge the loser to try and enter the competition. I remember one specific year when all 4 Pretoria school (Affies, Kloof, Centurion and Eldorain) played in the semi-finals of the 1 st rugby teams. The Beeld trophy is the old Admin Cup.@jakes: That group D is the group of death if ever I saw one. With the quarter finals coming into play at least a loss is is not the end of the road. Only making the way to the finals a little bit tougher.
    Garsies Monnas final for first teams?

    @beet: so is it by invite only (which would explain Affies, Kloof and Menlo’s non participation).

    @Roger: We just focus on rugby but the NuPower is actually a huge school competition covering various sports incl golf which Andre T’s son actually won at u19 level on behalf of Klerksdorp last year

    I think this format with a quarterfinals is not as exciting but certainly fairer than last year when only the winners of each group competed for the title.

    @jakes: Hi Jakes – how does this differ from Beeld Trophy? Is the Beeld Trophy now what was know as the Administrators/Directors Cup……and, why dont Affies and Menlo Park play in this competition?

    10 May 2014- Grey College vs Affies and also the Nu power-Tuks finals both happening in Pretoria on the same day. Will be two killer games to watch if the times do not clash.

    @ Valke- the real 2013 winner should have been EG JAnsen, we all know that :mrgreen: Maybe they will take it this year, but tough assignment lying ahead, too early to tell. I also see they have 1/4 finals again this year. Maybe the organizers saw that last year version did not work and there was no margin for error.. I hope that Vereeniging gym and EG can sort there under 15 issue out..

    @jakes: EG playing againsts 2012 and 2013 winners in their group. Very tough.
    If they can decide which players belongs in which school, the EG vs. Vereeniging Gim will also be a good game.
    Wonder why EG vs. HTS is still on Thursday ? No Easter Festival to worry about.
