Sharks Academy coach picking KZN Sevens

Roelof Kotze, from the Sharks Academy is one of the two new selectors responsible for choosing this year’s provincial Sevens team.

Kotze’s name has come up in connection with school Sevens before. In 2011, he was the manager of the SA Schools team that travelled to the Isle of Man in the UK to take part in an international event. The original team contained one Mbembe Payi, who did not travel abroad with the rest of the squad, possibly because he could not get a passport as a result of his identity document being falsified. However he was only caught a few months later according to the official record.

Kearsney’s Francois Lubbe replaces Glenwood’s Rudi Dames as a coach and selector. Continuity is provided in the form of Michaelhouse Head of Rugby Ryno Combrinck who was in charge of the KZN team last year.
