Trio closer to Wesgrow destiny after thriller win over the Diamonds

Trio have thrust themselves into pole position for the 2026 Wesgrow Sentrale 1st XV title after a pulsating 41–40 victory over Diamantveld High School.

The result not only underlined their attacking firepower, but also elevated the Kroonstad outfit to favourites in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested race for top honours.

Standing in their way, however, is a daunting trip to Bloemfontein to face Fichardtpark High School—a side that began the season with ambitions of their own silverware. Traditionally formidable at home, Fichardtpark represent a significant hurdle in Trio’s quest to convert momentum into a title push.

It is a challenge that will demand composure, physicality and defensive steel—areas that were tested in their high-scoring win last time out. Yet, should Trio rise to the occasion, their grip on the competition could tighten considerably.

Victory in Bloemfontein would not seal the title just yet, but it would tilt the odds firmly in their favour and bring them one step closer to a memorable Wesgrow triumph.
