Ranking prediction for 2024 using u16A of 2022 & 2023

Using the u16 rankings from NextGenXV and from SASchoolSport and a applying a weighting of 75% for 2022 and 25% for 2023, here’s a numbers game guideline for 2024. Obviously numerous other factors will a part in the form and achievements in 2024 but for now in the absence of knowing more about those factors, this is decent information to have at one’s disposal.

    Super sad to see Glenwood predicted to just make Top 50, a rapid decline in the past 5 years. No more funds and the surrounding area is atrocious.

    In recent times one sort of expects Garsfontein or Monument to be the favourites at the start of a campaign.
    But it does look like Monnas will be a bit off their average pace in 2024.
    Noordheuwel have never won the Noordvaal Cup!
    I wonder if 2024 will be the sort of open season which affords them a shot at the title. However I suspect that even if they can just finish above Monnas it will be considered a massive step forward for them based on the history and proximity of the two schools.
    Helpies are a potential favourite team in the compo. I see Christiaan Gouws has moved across from Nories to join coach Dietlov Coetzee.

    would be really interesting to see how schools like noordheuwel and helpmekaar perform next year after a few years of having exceptional junior teams.

    I would rate the 2022 season at 85%, assuming there was no shopping. There will be surprises on who has gone shopping.

    It would be interesting to see how many Border kids are at KZN schools now due to rugby. Plus many of those in KZN usually represent the cream of the crop.

    The Hudson Park 16a team of 2022 has been pillaged and gutted by kzn mercenary schools unfortunately.
