@Smallies: exactly…it’s not an accident, credit where it’s due
@Bush: Yes, great to be in the semi.
And for those believing the format is wrong, the Boks lost in the pool stages and won the Cup in 2019.
@Smallies: I would put a bet on it….
@Grasshopper: they might loose😅😅😅😅
@Smallies: A game vs Grey Bloem to really test them ;-)
@Grasshopper: agree with you ,we were caught with our pants down ,and preparation is the responsibility of the coaching team they should have organized a couple of warm up games agains perhaps a few varsity cup teams
@Smallies: They can’t help being better prepared…..SA still super disappointing.
@Kaya 85: we should also take into account the fact that the northern hemisphere teams know each other pretty well considering they played the u20 six nations
@Grasshopper: Truck all the techincal kuk, we through to a semi. That’s all that matters.
@Bush: Losing to Italy and still getting to a semi, means the format is just wrong….
@Djou: They through to a semi which is great considering what I’ve read about how bad they are. France Vs SA final
@Kaya 85: my theory has more to do with team cohesion and team spirit ,I believe this is a very talented squad,they can play rugby very well,we all know that from seeing them over their schoolboy careers.I do think however that team spirit and a sense of unity is missing here…that and of course playing on the crappyest piches saru could find in South Africa
@Smallies: although, placed in a larger context: Ireland are so well organized these days, they are right up there even with u20….same and more with France…and also in context, look how neither the Junior Wallabies or Junior All Blacks made the semis….so clearly the Levels are rising in other countries….
@Bush: Yes, many abroad. This group is not as good as e.g. the team who played 6 Nations last year!
@Bush: Not sure what this is related too, but for clarity it was our Under30 side that played the DHS u30 side that year. Prerequisite is a player having their own kids..
@Smallies: I have mine too, people won’t like it…
@Grasshopper: I have my own theory regarding the sub par performance of this team
The GK Lions Prop from Marais Viljoen is a beast. I was surprised how opponents at this level were so cowed by his power game….
@Grasshopper: And the GW U23 side of ST days?
@Bush: That game vs Argentina was the height of desperation tat home that got them the win. The Irish will cut them to sheds. One of the worst SA U20 sides I’ve ever seen…..the Rathbone side would have put 50 on this lot……
@Djou: Hey Djou, the majority of our youth are overseas. The Nr10 for S.A u20 can’t be the best there is. I thought he had a terrible game, our scrum took a pounding in the first half, then they sorted things out. We were a little slow with support at the rucks. I think that French side is the side to beat. How’s this for a gamble- WC U20 France, WC2023 France
@Bush: Think they, like us, have a sub-par u.20 group, with some brilliant individuals.
Next World Cup may be different!
@Grasshopper: Thought the same thing, they were brilliant against Argentina. Different team. AB’s and Aussie are out, their rugby structures must be worse than ours.
Daar is n reel..of n law..as jy nie by die law of the games hou nie is jy uit..of dit nou in the “spirit of the game” is of nie…jy is uit!. Niks met Bulle se moan te doen nie..dit was hulle reg om te kla aa WP nie by reels hou nie. Was dit in “Spirit of the game”?…debateerbaar.
@4×4: 100% reg.
@OUD ANKER: Jy het my duidelik verkeerd verstaan.
But I know you can only play who is in front of you…
Nou kry A span speler seer,
My mening was bloot dat daar nie in 2023 n hoofwedstryd was nie.
@Carpe diem: I reckon WP should boycott Craven Week as a response. Also, boycott Grant Khomo next year….
Daar was nie hierdie jaar n hoofwedstryd nie.
@Kaya 85: mate I see Italy as a massive embarrassement….it’s like Grey loosing to Bloemfontein hoerskool it should NEVER happen, Italy Scotland, Wales, Japan ,Argentina are teams we should never loose to
Hi guys, been away for a while…anything interesting happening around here?
I did see that SA u20 got pumped by none other than Italy.. but as a comfort, the Baby All Bkacks took an almighty klap from France, and the Irish wasted the Baby Wallabies….but ours is worse because we are on home ground, and Italy’s youth program is not 10% of what we should be developing.
@Grizzly: Yep, I see an African Tri-nations in the future, SA, Namibia and Kenya. That’s the real future as the game drifts into the doldrums…
@Djou: Ek stem saam, totaal onnodig.
@Grant: Geen probleem, glad nie ‘n oom nie
@Djou: nou ja. WP het die Bulle geklop …
@Kantman: 💯
Klein troosprysie!
@Kantman: jammer oom
@Grasshopper: Yes,agree.The 2 year point is shocking if you think about it.For them it’s par for the cource.
Eventually they will drag National/Sprinbok rugby to Bafanna Bannana level.
@Maroon machine supporter: Under 20 results are not acceptable, losing to Italy is just poor. I mean in 2 years our kids go from smashing any school in the world to battling to beat Italy, Georgia etc……something is wrong…….we all know what it is….
@Bush: Cheers boet, enjoy it down in good old Dirtbin with this Marxist crew in charge…
@Smallies: SARU versmoor meer as net ons skole rugby.
@Grasshopper: Cheers Hopper, love to your Suster ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
60 million people in S.A and we can’t develop shit only destruct. Tell me what happens in Club Rugby after school? Still quotas? I don’t remember seeing any club banned from playing a league game due to the lack of quotas. Eish this is a real kuk storm and totally unnecessary in 2023 fork it’s not 1973.
Just read about the mess at GK, despicable and why there is no future for kids in SA. Merit and merit only is the way forward…I think that’s me signing out of SA schoolboy rugby, beyond repair…
@Bush: sad part is most if not all unions are doing absolutely nothing to develope schoolboy rugby …..schools are actually drinving developement and the unions are riding on the coat tails of those schools
BB shouldn’t even pitched for the final game. What a mess, just shows no Development has taken place for over 30 years. Only poaching from various Provinces that have players of colour. Sorry youth for having to experience that, only place for you is Overseas
@Grant: Three sides, both WP teams
@Mate: apologies Mate. Two (2) sides.
@Djou: jammer Djou, ek vra verskoning.
@Grant:
Who did EP lose to?
Only one (1) unbeaten team at the Grant Khomo week. And it wasn’t the Bulls. Well done WP. 👍🏻🥃
@Kantman: Jou antwoord is mislik verby.
Terloops, as ek kon sou ek ander wedstryde kyk. So, voor jy weer stupid aannames maak, kry die inligting.
Almal weet wies die wenners en as ek n bul was sou ek my goue medalje weg bliksem.
Daar is gewoonlik ‘n paar talentvolle /15’s by die GK week.
Ek weet nie hoekom almal so emosioneel raak nie.
@apple: You are joking, right. Ignorance is bad, so it might help to eat an apple!
Please inform who the WP based players in the BB-team are!
@Djou: Doen jou eie huiswerk, die onsmaaklikheid hiervan maak my siek.
Was die reëls duidelik?
@Djou: Stem heeltemal saam.
Baie goeie speler.
@PRondersteuner: They should appeal, I am sure if you include the Western Province based players in the Bulls team WP would have fulfilled their quotas. The Paarl centre should have been in that team from the beginning, that is the injustice in all of this.
Bv jy speel vandag, kry klomp beserings, nou hoe vervang jy hulle binne ‘n dag?
Miskien kan iemand my antwoord hierop.
@PRondersteuner: Kwotas is ‘n onding en sal altyd so wees.
Na my mening het WP se spanbestuur gefouteer.
Blykbaar 2 kwotaspelers beseer.
@SJ: you don’t get it. I don’t believe there isn’t one player good enough from both Kearsney & Glenwood to not make the GK side. Hilton must be an outlier as I don’t think the Glenwood side has been rolled over by all the other KZN sides. Anyway, I’ll leave it there…
@Grasshopper:
I don’t see the relevance to the topic at hand. Are you saying that Glenwood should have players in the GK team because Hilton have been importing? That thrashing indicates that there are better players available. Imported or not.
It wasn’t a one-off either. Glenwood played Hilton in the KZN trials the week prior and it was a similar story.
@Kantman: @Grant: @yesnomaybe: dis bietjie fuctup as jy my vra ….dis hoekom ek nie die kak wat SARU opdis volg of meer kyk nie ,kinders word gespyker agv politicking….sieklik
Play by the rules. But no one can take a win from you. Final day has great match-ups, Sharks vs WP XV promises to be most exciting game of the day. Amazed that Cheetahs are in the finals.
@yesnomaybe: read the same thing. Apparently because they didn’t comply with quota regulations. Beet, can you confirm ?
So just heard there is a bit of drama behind the scenes of the WP team. Apparently they are not playing the main game tomorrow due to the replacements the team made with regards to injuries they incurred. They are apparently playing 3rd/4th position vs Lions. Bulls playing in main game vs Cheetahs.
@beet: I heard the fixtures were changed for the last day …
Managed to watch the full WP/Bulls game and agree that the change at scrumhalf changed the momentum of the game and also agree I would give the WP no 5 man of the match. The weather was bad but WP made so many errors, I lost count of the number of knock-on’s. This WP team is a good side and will be very difficult to beat on a dry day.
@SJ: 55-0, yes probably the worst result in over 20 years for the U16a’s, well done Hilton for buying a dream team. Maybe we should stop playing Hilton because they are too professional and we might get injuries, like they did a few years ago…. hypocrites…fine when it’s the other way around; https://saschoolsports.co.za/rugby-hilton-college-refuses-to-play-glenwood/
@SJ: And they beat Maritzburg College at College 11-7….must be pretty rubbish
@TJ: Thanks buddy :-)
@Grasshopper That tinfoil hat suits you Grassy!!
@Grasshopper: I watched the Glenwood u16A side get absolutely thrashed by Hilton this year. They didn’t impress at all.
5 slot welverdiend MoM.
@Black and white: Sorry I always ignore your requests. If you send me material, I will post it
@VanniLaeveld: Thank you. I have fixed the Griquas team list
@Jakkals: Who is the godfather?
@Jakkals: Ja I get that, but not one player from a team that as actually beaten or come close to the schools that make up most of the team. I get they probably a good team together with no stars, but not one. From 5 years ago where we got like 10 reps to none…..methinks the selectors and selection criteria have changed and biased towards a few senior selectors. Anyway, by matric this U16 team will be beating these other sides :-)
@Grasshopper: quite a few powerhouse schools that don’t have strong representation at GK week…they actually do a lot of buying at this said week.
U16 is probably the best age group to recruit at for 1st team. Many U13 Craven Week players and super stars in Primary school don’t even make the 1st team when in Gr12. Then the schools have invested 5 years of full scholarship into a player who is now in the 3rd team and not really featuring anymore…
I don’t like it and don’t think it’s right but they are actively targeting this age group now….
@Black and white: All the /13 matches are being shown on SS. Yesterday the Bulls beat the FS in a great match that see-sawed nicely. And WP beat EP after the EP dominated the start of the match.
The skill level improves every year and it is a joy to watch the games – the WP 12 is big and fast and still passes well and seems to have a great rugby IQ.
Still shocked to see not one Kearsney or Glenwood player in the Sharks squad……
Morning all . Please can we get info on the CW U13 that is currently underway at MC . These hopefully have some future u15 , U16 and U18 Cw and GK players. The last post on U13 was over a year ago and while your personal views on these U13 players are respected there is a new generation of parents coming through with youngsters who would love the positive interaction and info that available from some of the OLD dogs here . This is not my first request on this platform and I look forward to positive response . Thanks
Derico Messina is one hell of a good rugby player. One of the better SBR TH props I have seen this year, at all levels
11:10 WP XV vs Pumas
12:30 SWD vs Sharks
13:50 FS vs Lions
15:20 WP vs Bulls
@apple: 🤣
@Kantman: Bulls will have a strong team in 2025 if you consider it will then be a combination of the Bulls and Boland GK teams
@beet: Morning! The Griquas team names has the Griffons names copied.
@Kantman: Thank you. I have updated the fixtures
@Mate: Hi, just looked at SS Schools, seems like A field games are loaded for Monday. Nothing about B field yet
@beet there has been a number of fixture changes. Any info on streaming?
Day 1 game will be Bulls vs Sharks
Other teams to watch are SWD, Cheetahs, Lions, both WP
wp behoort n baie sterk span he prh hjs gim en rondebosch goeie spanne
