@LeonVos: Agree! So proud and exciting to see. Northwood rugby has been building for some time both at juniour and senior level. 2018 was a real turning point where the 1st team was competitive and the juniour pipeline was strong too (which has remained and gotten even stronger). The 1st team in 2019 were simply superb and 2020 were also strong..it was a pity the season was cut short after 2 games with Covid. Even last year which was not as strong at 1st team, they still beat Kearsney. The junoirs last year were immense and while the 1st team this year may be more of an interim year, some of those Grade 11’s will get great exposure. The wheel has turned and I can see some great 1st teams coming together in the next 2-4 years which is great!

@Skywalker: But Our Juniors are looking really good. From U14 to U16. The future looks bright for Northwood.

@Zion: You have no idea how much you’ve missed it until you are there on the side of the field. You have no idea how good it felt to be at the ground sharing and experiencing the atmosphere and spirit again. I concur with Beet – being at Kearsney this past Saturday and experiencing the buzz again was epic. Long may it last!

@Skywalker: Yeah some interesting things from last Saturday. Northwood were competitive up to a point. The score was 18-14 in Glenwood’s favour. A Glenwood player then got a red card so they played 25 minutes a man down. However in that time Northwood started to show they didn’t have the 70min match legs yet and Glenwood who had an extensive preseason + the disappointment of last week’s warm-up at Vories for physical and mental driving factors, turned it up a notch in tempo and grew the lead.

@Zion: yes you quickly realise how much you have missed school rugby once you are alongside the field and your own two eyes can be your camera lens.

I still have this image in my head of Stellenberg’s main field with a host of parents and spectators standing outside the ground along the fence to watch the Oakdale match last year. :-D I’m sure all will be please that those times are past tense.

Hilton:Northwood will unfortunately be 1 way traffic in favour of Hilton. 2 very tough games to start with for Northwood (Glenwood, Hilton).

Very keen to see what happens with Kearsney vs DHS though and even the Glenwood vs Mhouse should be interesting.
