Two Saffas feature in Eddie Jones 2020 plans

Two South African born players David Ribbans (Somerset College) and Simon Kerrod (Pretoria Boys’ High School) have progressed from fairly humble beginnings as professionals in their home country to now be included amongst 12 uncapped players in England head coach Eddie Jones’ initial 28-man training squad ahead of a busy international window.

25 year-old lock Ribbans joined the WPRI after school and represent WP at u19 and u21 levels before earning a few caps for the Province senior team. He joined English premiership team Northampton Saint at the start of 2017.

28 year-old prop Kerrod was part of the Sharks junior setup, earning game time at u19 and u21 level before using the EP Kings and English lower league team Jersey as senior level stepping stones. He is now with Harlequins in the Premiership after spending a few seasons at Worcester Warriors.
