The pool matches of the Nupower-Tuks series begins on Saturday 09 March 2013. 16 Noord-Vaal schools are competing for the title. Split into 4 pools of 4 teams each, each school will play the other 3 schools in their pool with the best 2 schools in each pool advancing to the quarter-finals knockout stage.
Favourites this year are Monument and Garsfontein. Both schools are expected to perform very well nationally this season. Another school to keep an eye out for is EG Jansen. EG is always able to put a competitive 1st team together but this year might just be a special year for them. The likes of Centurion, Nelspruit, HTS Middelburg, Florida and even last year’s high-flyers Kempton Park can never be underestimated and one or two of these schools could quite easily produce the surprise package team of 2013.
Centurion are the defending champions having beaten Waterkloof 49-47 in the 2012 final. Klofies are not taking part in this year’s competition.

Rustenburg was the victors against Eldoraigne on Saturday I heard.??
@Woltrui: Kempies were really good last year.
Based on BoishaaiPa’s formula driven rankings (http://schoolboyrugby.co.za/blog/?p=1171) EG are at 17 and Kempies at 34 over the last 4 years, so not too much separates the teams.
I watched EG play Affies last year. They paid very well and made Affies work very hard for the win. Not sure why they could not keep on playing at that level after that.
@beet: EG Jansen is in n moeilike groep. As hul nie hul groep wen wag Monnas, Garsies of Kempton Park op hulle. “Murphys Law” sal seker bepaal dat hul teen Kempton Park moet speel. Dit na die riller wedstryde tussen die twee spanne in 2012 8)
Beet, can you please change my jersey to the PRG one please.
I have heard some good vibes about EG this year.
PaulRoos gaan vanjaar in groen truie uitdraf.
Sien hierbo.
@beet: I think Waterkloof learned their lesson in 2012. In my opinion they overplayed their kids. The team I saw beating Affies and the team playing at the Wildeklawer weren’t the same. The players just looked tired. Nu power is a tough competition. Maybe a good desicion from Klofies to withdraw from one of the competitions.
@beet: @Woltrui: Yikes. I see Klofies are not in the Nu-Power Reeks.
@Woltrui: I would not “onderskap” Klofies.
