Maritzburg College are still seeing the positive side of life despite going down to Westville (10-5) and then to Kearsney (19-7) in their first two warm up sessions of the year, played at the Voortrekker Rugby Night . Coach Ryan Strudwick has believes there has been good value in giving players game time with contact and in testing depth. The games have identified where College is at and what they need to work on. The main downside has been the unavailability of players who are committed to summer sports during this overlap period.
The Voortrekker Rugby Night Series ends tonight with a final round of games. College will in all likelihood continue to test a few different combinations this evening in their game against host Voortrekker. Also in action is the Westville 1st XV after a bye last Friday night. Westville plays Greytown. Both Tier-1 schools are expected to keep the scorers busy.

@Amalekite: And thanks for your support
@Amalekite: Will do!!
@GreenBlooded: Ouch. Let us know how Glenwood go, we are behind them. I won’t be able to make it unfortunately.
@Amalekite: 51-0 I think
No, but neither did College – conditions were atrocious – cannot read anything into that result.
Does anyone know the score between College and Voortrekker last nite ?
@Mike: These are not proper games, just 20minx2 and the emphasis from the coaches point of view isn’t on winning. Westville like College and Kearsney played minus about 5 guys who will challenge for 1st XV positions.

Did Westville play with their full side against College ?
